New site? Maybe some day.

I can definitely admit that I'm out of my depth when it comes to this situation. I've gotten hundreds of emails from bands that want to play The O as soon as they can. The owner is hemorrhaging money in renovation costs and monthly bills that are due whether it's open or not. And the contractors give us information that is inaccurate whenever they're telling us about things that are within their control and not a whole hell of a lot of it has been in their control. There's nothing in it for me to spend time and effort working with bands and promoters to put together shows that don't happen. There were definitely other things I could have been doing with that time myself. Was it a mistake to try to get some shows together so that we could hit the ground running when it reopens? Obviously the way things have turned out prove conclusively that it was. I try to give the bands as much notice as possible when booked shows are in jeopardy and I've put a number of lineups in touch with Martin so they can salvage the date. I've moved as many shows as possible over to Great Scott, but only twice as the timing actually worked out. It's a frustrating situation and I definitely wish things were going differently. If people feel that they've been wronged or mislead, I couldn't blame them but I did what I could to avoid that and how they decide to view how everything unfolded is ultimately up to them. |
That doesn't tell me anything. |
I wonder how many bands actually showed up to play and realized it was still closed. |
the condensed version is that he has no control over when they're done and is basically helpless and you're all fucked. |
It's never re-opening. Renovating was a stupid idea. |
Yes, but I knew that already. |
It shall go the way of the dodo. |
Are bands actually mad at this guy? Shit happens, it's not his fault. |
So is it looking bleak for Boston's Dead? |
Exactly, what could a booking guy do about construction being slow? |
Who knew Brian and Geoff could see the future... |
Not too hard. The Rat closed and then the Choppin' Block followed suit. Doesn't take a genius. |
Construction workers get paid by the hour... so it'll be done in 2013. |
What if I give one of them a free Bane of Existence shirt? |
I can put the hurricane thing on the back again maybe. |
I think I should pick up a hammer and nails and go finish the job myself. |

haha |
It's because I'm leaving. There's no point in having shows if I'm not at them. |

People with the necessary skills should offer to volunteer. |
Brian from Gut has those skills, and I think he actually did. |
I would happily wield a hammer for O'Briens. I got A's in shop class. |
contractors are scumbags. i know because i am one. |
I will now never trust a contractor as long as I live. |
I know, Aaron. I just got indie rock in your metalcore. |
If masonry work is needed I will offer my expert hand at brickslinging very cheap If it will help out the scene |
Someone told me they looked inside yesterday and it looks very close to being finished. Whether it's very close enough for this show to happen remains to be seen. |
looking like I'll have to move my Scumfuc Thursday show soon, which sucks. Oh well at least I'll most likely be able to have it in May if I can get a solid date from Carl. |
I hope the 'scene' lays in ruins like Rome after I move away. |
LULZ @ calling O'Briens "The O" |

I'm for that as long as I get the contractor's rate. |

Everyone did...it had character. |
it was the scumbaggiest place on earth, take that Disney! |
They're going to turn it into some college boy hangout. Graduating from college is for the gays. That's why I have 117 credits and refuse to take the final course. |

You need to come to New Bedford and we can make the rounds. We'll start at the Cultivator then head over to the National Club. If you survive that we'll go shopping the next day for shoes and do each other's hair. |
Yeah, that National Club makes the old O'Briens look like a Pizzeria Uno's. |
I just think the whole situation is lame. |
Yeah, the contractors have been dicking everyone, Carl and his staff included, around for some time now. Hopefully it'll be all over and we can get down to the good business of spilling beer on the floor and making the joint smell like garbage again. |
That Pizzeria Uno joint is so classy they don't even have one in New Bedford. You gots to go over the bridge to Fairhaven. |
Jeff, call me right now for sexy times. |
