LONDON - Iranian naval vessels seized 15 British Navy personnel in Iraqi waters on Friday, the Ministry of Defense said.
The British personnel were "engaged in routine boarding operations of merchant shipping in Iraqi territorial waters," and had completed their inspection of a merchant ship when they were accosted by Iranian vessels, the ministry said in a statement.
Basically Iran is doing the equivalent of shoving someones little brother, to see if the big brother will fight.

So except little fights like this (and killing iranians in iraq) we aren't going to go to war with them. not even when they make a nuke. |

I think you are absolutely correct. Contrary to popular belief, Bush can't just round up our troops and go to war - he needs congressional approval. Considering the political atmosphere lately there is no way in hell that'd he'd ever get the approval to go to war, even if Iran gets a nuke.

Politicians are self-interested scumbags. But I will let them be self-interested if it will bring our troops home before there's nothing fucking left to them. You can't puppet a country's history, the Iraqi's are the only people that can help the Iraqi's. We can't stop a fucking centuries old war and I'm sick of our soldiers getting blown apart because this administration is too stubborn and arrogant to admit that we can't fix this. |

Bush doesn't need permission to go into iran from anyone, congress or otherwise... if he decides to go there he can just do it, if he decides to drop a bomb he can just do it. War Powers Act. He can just send in the troops and do whatever for 90 days before he even has to speak to anyone in congress about it... and even then most presidents in the past have not even bothered to follow the War Powers Act. Bush doesn't have to declare war or any such thing... the US hasn't technically declared war on any other country since WWII.
