can you get rid of old music files on your itunes without losing it on your ipod when you wanna put more music on it ?

Ah, alright.

It's pretty simple. Just set your ipod preferences to manual update so that it doesn't synch up to your itunes when you're removing songs. Then, just remove whatever from your itunes library and you should be all set.

That's if you're using itunes, by the way. Not sure how much different it is with other programs.

no i am using itunes, but ive got an 80g video one and i just didnt wanna lose anything ive already got on there.

but i wanted to add more shit, and delete the old files from my hard drive.

are we on the same page here, cause im not trying to lose 11,000 songs just trying to cover my bases first.

I understand what you're saying, and it should work fine. As long as you have your preferences set to manual update, nothing you add to or take away from your itunes library should effect whats already on your ipod until you actively alter your actual ipod playlist.

I have tons of stuff I deleted from my hard drive but is on my ipod

just make sure you turn off synching and you're golden
