Shane won't tell me what the headstock looks like yet, he blacked it out so I have to add the tuners and ESP logo myself... use your imagination.

toggletoggle post by aaron_michael  at Jan 16,2007 4:23pm
I'm too lazy to look it up right now, but what is the body made out of?

toggletoggle post by Niccolai   at Jan 16,2007 4:26pm
mahogany/maple, just like every other horizon that's available in the US.

toggletoggle post by brian_dc  at Jan 16,2007 4:28pm
it looks nice.

toggletoggle post by largefreakatzero at Jan 16,2007 4:29pm
It's purty. But how is one supposed to make obnoxious laser beam sounds with a fixed trem?

toggletoggle post by Niccolai   at Jan 16,2007 4:34pm
with a whammy pedal.

this guitar is wayyy to nice to destroy by putting a floyd rose on it.

ESP is releasing an LTD MH1000 with floyd rose this year though. (Didn't hear it from me)

toggletoggle post by DeRtOxIa   at Jan 16,2007 4:49pm
i like fixed bridges. i can rest my hand on them and not worry about dropping my tuning. i'm still a floyd rose guy though.

toggletoggle post by Niccolai   at Jan 16,2007 4:59pm
I would never ever ever ever ever ever put a floyd rose on a $4000 guitar.

toggletoggle post by DeRtOxIa   at Jan 16,2007 5:06pm
hahahaha

toggletoggle post by DeRtOxIa   at Jan 16,2007 5:07pm
i fucking love neck inlays like that too. i hate dots, theyre so fucking boring and stupid looking. shark inlays are meh...i'm not a fan but theyre ok. but i love those inlays.

toggletoggle post by Niccolai   at Jan 16,2007 5:10pm
+1

it's either gotta be these, or no inlays.

I love these friggin things.

I will probably never own a guitar that isn't an ESP horizon, unless it's a Ran copy of an ESP horizon.

Unfortunately I sold all the guitars in that picture except for the mh1k.

toggletoggle post by Archaeon at Jan 16,2007 6:40pm
good choice

the mh1000 is my favorite esp that I've played

toggletoggle post by Niccolai   at Jan 16,2007 7:17pm
If they release a new color this year, I will most likely buy it if it doesn't have abalone on it.

toggletoggle post by anonymous at Jan 16,2007 7:56pm
if you were a true esp fanboy you would have bought a REAL ESP instead of 10 of the same LTD's which have low quality hardware.

btw, TREMS will always be superior to Fixed Bridges in metal.

For instance, If you break a string on a fixed bridge, can you simply unwind the string a couple of turns and put the string back into the floyd? Didn't think so.

toggletoggle post by powerkok   at Jan 16,2007 8:01pm
nice, I want a floyd on it tho.
And it BETTER be a reverse Headstock. or at least not the gay ass early horizon 'santa hat' heads.

toggletoggle post by yummy at Jan 16,2007 8:04pm
these are pretty nice, but I don't think I deserve any of them. I wouldn't take care of them they way they should be.

Thats a bold statement, seeing how tuners are exempt with a floyd, and when you put an EMG in, you just put quality pots in, and you dont need a switch, so that just leaves the Floyd.

Thats about 600$ more just for a better liscensed floyd (if at all).

Not worth it.
Besides a NeckThru ESP is even MORE!!!

You cant beat the MH or M series LTD's.

I agree with you on everything except the "real ESP" part. LTD is a phenominal guitar and the best anywhere for the money. Look at the specs on any of the MH series LTD's. If you don't think that it's a killer amount of top of the line specs for a mid-range cost....well quite simply sir, you have Aids.

And....the whammy pedal sounds the best when it is set up like mine.....
In my bookcase collecting dust.
Such a noisy, thin, digital sounding pedal....blekk.
I like Floyds.

haha.

Sperzels, tonepros, and gotoh are low quality hardware?

too bad the exact same hardware is used on their 3000+ dollar custom line. So you can scratch that arguement off your list.

As for how 'simple' repairing your floyd is, go ahead and unwind that string a couple of turns and screw it back to your saddle after you loosen the nut block, and the saddle block with the two allen wrenches you have on hand (which you won't) and then and then see how well you're tuned.

..and that's assuming you don't have sperzels because the only MH-style horizons in the ESP line have sperzels, which you don't wind string on unless you're retarded (which in your situation, that may be the case).

besides, I could slide a new string through the body of the guitar, lock it into the sperzels, and tune faster than you could loosen the nut and saddle blocks.

..and that's assuming I've ever broken a string on one of these guitars, which I have not.

I'll buy a "real" ESP when they start putting blade switches, EMGs, and pearl bindings on their Horizon NT IIs.

Apparently it's a new 3x3 shape. it's supposed to be similar to their F headstock.

I was kidding about that part. Whammy pedals are bogus. I hate floyds just as much though.

When it comes to trems I'll buy a guitar with a kahler3. Other than that, I won't buy a guitar with a floyd rose if there's a fixed bridge version.

toggletoggle post by DeRtOxIa   at Jan 16,2007 10:18pm
it does suck to break a string on a floyd rose. you're basically fucked. your tuning goes to shit and you have to take the guitar off and get out your "string changing kit" to change the string. it's nice to break a string on a fixed bridge and be able to continue playing without going out of tune too bad and then change the string without having to take the guitar off.

http://www.temol-no.com/ - now you can have the best of both worlds. fixed bridges are obsolete with this imo.

I re-use broken strings if they just snap at the trem and have no problems bringing it back to correct pitch. If you have no idea what you're doing with trems then I can see it being a pain sometimes. No probs here.

since getting my universe I no longer even so much as pickup my MH-300, the UV completely blows it away in tonewise most importantly by how it plays. I think I may sell it when I can get another 7-string to use as a backup.

and why the hell would buy anyone a whammy pedal? yucky!

IMO, the tremol-no is obsolete for people who prefer fixed bridges.

You can enjoy the theory of a fixed bridge, without the added bonus of neck angle, headstock tilt, palm feel, bridge height adjustment, feel, restring ease, and NOT having a guitar with a swimming pool routed into it.

the tremolno is handy for string changes and opening beers, but that's about it.

it's all a matter of opinion, except think of how many rad metal players exclusively use trems...gee, I wonder why....

I'm not knocking them by any means. If people prefer floyds it's cool with me, but when people start trying to tell me floyds are better than fixed bridges, I'm probably going to haveto cleanse them.

Fanboy is a pretty common term on gear messageboards.

I hear it used in tech-terms to make fun of people.
I always picture kids that go to raves and drive acuras.

oh god. years ago i used to frequent the ESP board often, all they do is suck on metallica's dicks all day long.

edit: now they have added killswitch, in flames etc to the fanboyness. what a surprise.

killswitch engage sucks...
i have no clue why they are going on tour with dragon force and headlining

Did you see the pictures of the crowd when they played in RI? Thats why they are headlining

I bought a whammy pedal because I suck at actually using Floyds. That, and for my fixed bridge guitars.

And I thought I was the only one that recycled strings with Floyds (That's actually almost the whole reason I use 'em.)

yeah but they were playing with bury your dead and hate breed.....
dragon force is such a greater band then those three combined.. even though i don't listen to dragon force that much it seems that they were robbed from a headlining spot why would they want to tour with them anyway?

Dude.. Killswitch Engage are realms bigger that Dragonforce. I like dragonforce and all but in regards to albums sold in the U.S. they cant even hold a candle to what Killswitch Engage has done. The fact KSE was playing with Hatebreed and BYD had nothing to do with the amount of people watching Killswitch. If kids didnt care about KSE they would have left after Hatebreed. Hatebreed's losing their popularity compared to what i was 1-2 years or so ago. At the most recent Stillborn Fest at Toads Place in CT, after Glassjaw played about 350 stayed for Hatebreed who headlined. The show was sold out at 800 too. Just sayin'. Killswitch were nominated for a fucking Grammy! my point is.. Killswitch is huge. Dragonforce is not. that's all.

My point exactly, its a fucking business the one who draws the most people wins, get it? This is a big tour not a DIY get in your van thing, for the record I fucking hate KSE but I get why they are headlining

I'm assuming the headstock on the horizon will be the same headstock they've always had. Any questions as to what it looks like? The same headstock on my bass (look in my pictures) which is a C-304.

toggletoggle post by Niccolai   at Jan 21,2007 4:45pm
The new headstock is actually a thinned version of ESP's viper/eclipse headstock:

It takes a little getting used to, but it looks okay.

toggletoggle post by immortal13 at Jan 21,2007 11:24pm
Proved me wrong. Compeltely different headstock than the older horizons. I dunno if I like it.

toggletoggle post by Niccolai   at Jan 21,2007 11:27pm
It will take a while to look normal sence you're so used to the old one, but it will probably grow on you. I think that if everyone were used to this headstock first and then they switched to the limp dick headstock that everyone would be pissed.

toggletoggle post by immortal13 at Jan 21,2007 11:46pm
Good call. Who knows. I have my own Horizon (only an H-200) with the old headstock. just waiting to paint it. It sounds fucking phenomenal though. Chances are I'll never play anything that isn't ESP.
