This is the first Metal Thursday without Zircon or Face Full of Shotgun playing. It's cool that they decided to change things up a bit, although I have to admit, seeing Zircon every month hasn't gotten old for me yet.
This is gonna be fun. I'm glad Dreaded Silence can finally play a Metal Thursday. To the best of my knowledge we've never played in Worcester before. Good times will be had by all.
I should really ask my boss to permanently switch me from Thursday nights to Wednesdays. I always miss the openers. I hate missing stuff. At least Ralph's is right around the corner from work. Gotta love that. I say this same shit every month. One of these days I'm gonna have to do something about it for real.

It's terrible that this is tomorrow and I am impoverished until next week. I wanted to check out Hung. And the burgers. Mmmm. Sin of Angels rules, too. This sucks. Almost as bad as those Dreaded Silence assholes, what a bunch of cocksmokers. Have fun everyone.

i just learned that the diner and the stage are on different floors. i'm pretty bummed. i was hoping we could order burgers and cokes while we were playing. ray was really looking forward to having french fry drumsticks.

I've never eaten at Ralph's. A whole lot of fat people have told me that they have good burgers, though. I trust fat people to know where the good food is.

Yup. Their burgers are pretty good as far as burgers go. They're a little pricey though and you can't get anything with or on them except lettuce/tomato/onions. I'm more of a bacon/cheese/jalapeno burger + fries kinda girl... and not exactly fat, but I hope you'd trust me anyway. I wish you could eat upstairs at the shows. You can always smell the food from the second floor, but who really wants to choose between the music and the food? That's my only complaint... LOL! They would probably drop it on the floor and complain when everyone stomped on it. I could see Crazy Dan falling on the floor and slipping around in burger grease.
Funny you should mention Crazy Dan. I almost put his name in my post but held back cuz only a few people here know him and would really see the humor in it.
I was completely blown away by Hung. I think most of the people in the crowd had to change their underwear after they played. The violin player was amazing. She played with a great deal of emotion. The guitar player could really shred, too, but unfortunately, the sound guy had the guitar too low in the mix, and it was hard to hear him. Some of the clean vocals were also too quiet. I would say that they were like a cross between My Dying Bride and The Sins of They Beloved, but that wouldn't do them enough justice.
I was disappointed that Sin of Angels played such a short set. I really would have liked to have seen more of them. They had some technical problems... something with bass feedback and a blown power amp, and it caused them to end their set early. What I did hear was some nice, slow doomy stuff, but they had already cut their set short before I had a chance to truly give them a good listen.
It was good to finally see Dreaded Silence. It's rare to see a band with clean vocals, especially one that does it well. I would have liked it if the sound guy had turned up the vocals because they were a bit too quiet. Every now and then, they reminded me of Sentenced. Their drummer is the young guy who used to be in Coffin Birth, and that kid can seriously play! I also thought the guitars sounded good. There were a couple of solos that I especially liked because they were neither boring nor overly flashy.
Nocturnum sounded pretty good. There was too much bass in the mix, which made everything sound a bit muffled/muddy, but otherwise, it was good. I was glad to see that they got such a good response, considering they were the first band to play. I've seen them about a million times, so my comments are more of a comparison with other times that I've seen them play. Unfortunately, both guitar players had the bad cold that has been going around and spent most of the time standing still, looking miserable on stage because they were both so sick. I guess it's hard to move around and get the crowd more into things when you're trying to make sure the snot in your nose stays in your nose.

I have a car, and money when I haven't just had to pay 1200 dollars to move into a new place. That bitch kept 1/2 our security deposit...something about keg parties...I don't know what she's going on about.

the bass feeding back was intentional, but yes i blew up my power amp. i think it overheated, hopefully i can get it back in working order and install a bigger fan in it or something.

sorry for missing this one...i went out to my mom's to do laundry and proceeded to get sicker and sicker, to the point where it was hard to breathe due to the excess of mucous building up in my face

The boston show didn't have that big of a crowd either. I think I had 40 paid, which isn't bad. just the linwood is huge and it made a crowd that would have been a packed o'brien's look less stunning.
regardless, SoA are fucking rad. I need to go out and see some of their new songs. They've been talking to be about recording their next one. I'm psyched.
this show was fun. thanks to everyone who came out and watched us. nocturnum, hung, and sin of angels sounded good. burger tasted good. beer tasted good. me happy.
