"I FUCKED THE GIRL IN HANSON"
and was going to edit it, but couldn't find it. |
I am there, I'll be the tall red headed dude.
going for amon amarth, bodom...kinda boring after a while |
I wasn't on planning on going. I've seen COB alot. But I keep talking/drinking thru amon amarth shows. I think I'll go but I got +1 (not bragging) so I'm looking for someone to bring or meet me there/hang out. Someone cool hrmm (email me jeremy at oak-knoll.com if interested). Maybe I'll go to hand out some free cds after the show. |

You're gonna have to be more specific, because you wont be the only tall redhead in attendance |
Gojira and Amon Amarth is a great 1-2 punch... CoB's keyboardist is good too. although... i really really dont like sitting through a set of new CoB songs. last time i saw them, i left halfway through their set... it was all newer gay shit and i was bored... like... very very bored. |
they only play like 3-4 songs off the new album and they are usually spread out quite a bit. |
Ryan_M said:
Scratch that. I probably won't go after all. |

I hope they play death in fire, arson, beheading od a king, thousand years of oppression, down the slopes of death, and vs the world. |
First time I saw amon amarth I only knew their album "fate of norns" now I am a vikingophile and know most of the stuff so it will be much more fun than the first time. |

Puss-ay |
i hope the amon amarth singer has that huge horn he drinks beer out of again haha. |
leaving in like an hour.. I think. |
I think i'll arrive at like 9pm. The 2 bands opening doesn't sound that interesting (from what I heard online). doors 7pm, show 8pm, my guess amon amarth will be 9ish? |
Ill be in the area, not sure if im gonna bother with this show. 20 some odd bucks to see one band I like, bahh. All these peopole here that get in for free. Why do I suck soo much |
I saw dftg outside. I looked like such a nerd with toilet paper stuck to my foot! sancity is on right now. |
What's the Metal Head to Hot Topic Ratio at this show? |
I see a lot of HT-wares...
sanctity: I totally forgot that these guys played here before. I think it was metalfest. They were ok. They have a CD coming out on roadrunner soon. I have a feeling they are going to push them to the same crowd as trivium. Anyone else sense that too? They got a sizable pit moving, but it's weird how the palladium's got lights directed right at the pit. I think there was only one crowd surfer during their set.
The upstairs is open and the crowd on the floor looks so f'n young. The place is pretty full, but no where's near capacity. We are allowed to shoot with flash for all bands except CoB so my pretty pretty princess pictures won't be that good, you know? |
gojira: pretty awesome progressive metal. I have never heard these guys before. Some of it was techy and reminded me of arsis. Then they had slower parts with typo sounding vocals. They were a bit louder than sanctity. To the point that the kickdrum was physically painful. I guess they don't speak much english as all, but the singer knew enough to yell things at the crowd. |
lot's of multi-zippered pants. Dudes and dudettes, pants with tons of non-functional zippers are retarded. Only clowns wear those.
amon amarth: they played a lot of stuff from their last 2 CDs. The crowd went apeshit for the fate of norns. crashing and colliding crowd surfers. I thought that that drummer was the only non-blonde? The basist looked more like the guy from aborted that amon amarth. If I remember correctly, the singer & the two guitarists are the original members. The singer most definitly had a beer horn. He cheered the crowd with it. Some how, he didn't spill a drop from it. I'm guessing it was magical... Probaly +2 v something lame like snakes or mermaids. Their set was short of the second to headlining band. too bad cause it sounded awesome. I think they played 8 songs. I really want to stress how awesome and epically viking they sounded. it was great.
CoB have a serious crew working for them. This must be the CoB hate crew. seemed like each point on the stage had a dude to cover it. plus, it looks like they have their own sound guy.
home, working on pictures |
i was about to say... did you go to a show and not take pictures?
either way, bodom/amon amarth was outstanding. gojira was ok, sanctity not ok. |
COB sounded incredible. BY FAR one of the best sounding (and loudest) sets I've ever seen at the Palladium. Hell, one of the best I've heard period. |
My fucking RTTP hoodie just got destroyed while C.O.B was playing. Goddamn 16 year old punks, grabbing onto me like they want to rape me or something. goddamnit. |

haha ok so that was you i talked to at random points in the night and yelled "rttp hoodie whooooooo" at the begining of the night. |
yeah. I really don't remember what you look like at this point though. |
maybe you have a twin or something, but I'm sure that I've met some guy who looks just like you, dresses crust punk, and pukes all over himself after getting wayyyy too drunk at shows. |

really tight black ankle-biter jeans with punk patches all over them. um...dreads, assuming the person has hair. This guy doesn't. patches pretty much everywhere. Clothing that's been sewn back together so many times it looks like a quilt. |
I had a kickass time.. But I Lost my behemoth concert T, off my belt, that sucks.. . There was alot of cool people in the pit tho (well atleast a couple ;) I was the long haired dude with arm bracers and no shirt.. now that i just got a refill of water, I'm laying back down.. i'm sore
i wanted to go to this show but my whole crew bailed and said to much money for one band a.a. and that c.o.b. is mall metal and then you have to drive out to shitty woostah. show should of been a.a. in boston. metal as punk and hardcore is getting so fuckin' fake and backwards. all which use to be really cool genres when true. |
Why doesn't Amon Amarth play with better and cooler bands other than C.O.B.? Viking metal and Hot Topic don't mix very well.
They played once with Nile,Goatwhore,Vader and Kreator and that show ruled! Same price i believe but worth it then. |
Just woke up to take a piss now I can't get back to fuckin' sleep....
So, I made the mistake of hittin' the sauce a little too hard on friday night, so by saturday I was lookin' and feeling pretty sea sick.
I showed up at the Palladium just in time grab a beer and get down to the floor before Amon Amarth went on. I really wanted to be right up front for their set but I was way to exhausted to to deal with a bunch of smelly kids jumping on my head pushin and shovin'. I always thought crowd surfing was gay and should have died in the ninties with the grunge movement.
Amon Amarth was fucking awsome period. Johan is a very charismatic front man. I usually don't find myself smiling at a death metal show, but that guy is all happy go lucky and it kinda rubbed of on me, especially in my feeble wetbrain state of mind. I guess Odin does alright by Mr. Hegg. Unfortunately, being squashed like a shit sandwich by the crowd was a bit overwhelming so, I made my way through to find my cousin, grab a beer and a breath of Hepatitis B in the mens room. I can't believe I stood in the bathroom smoking cigarettes during the last two AA songs. I met up with the Rev in there and he had mention something along those lines aswell haha.
Yeah well, the situation only degenerated at this point. Went upstairs to the balcony to relax and drink one. at this point me and my cousin' don't have our hearts in staying another minute cause he was just as wrecked as me. So, we decided to check out COB while sitting down. I've never sat down during a bands set. I must be getting old. I don't have much to say about Children Of Bodom except that Alexi Laiho is quite guitar prodigy but, I don't see myself racing out to buy a COB album anytime soon.
So we walk to my car like a couple of zombies only to be greated by a Tow Truck picking up some unsuspecting victims car. At which point I'm saying ,"shit man good thing it ain't my ride." Wrong. Long story short, those folks at Pats Auto Service are running quite a racket and to make matters worse they only take cash. So ,between me and my cousin we only have $100 of the $110 I needed to pay but I guess this guy felt bad cause I had NH plates and I spoke perfect "masshole free" english, so he let it go for the cash we had scrounged up. Well, that became an expensive night! I'm a bit discouraged to say the least.
I got back to RI around 1am and passed right out .
Theeeee fucking end.
Now I'm gonna go try and go back to sleep and dream about being King of an all female midget master race who obey my every will.
Hey Jeremy did you ever show up? I kept my eye out for ya. |
Last time I caught Amon Amarth I was unbelievably disappointed...they were a snoozefest. All their songs just blurred together. They put on a good show stage presence-wise, at least, but the songs were just so fucking boring. Which is weird because I love the albums. |
what you just said doesnt make any sense |
Dudehammer said: COB sounded incredible. BY FAR one of the best sounding (and loudest) sets I've ever seen at the Palladium. Hell, one of the best I've heard period. |
I dont like them at all, but someone should buy their soundguy a beer, cause it was good.
Did I mention their light show was fucking insane?
yea bodom certainly had the best sounding drums out of any show i have ever been to. it took about 3 songs to get the guitar mix right, but damn, their sound guy knows his shit. |
I don't think I'm going to palladium shows ever again. I only went to see Amon Amarth; I had a feeling they were going to play some older stuff but that wasn't the case. It's extremely sad to see that what the crowd is at these shows now. Not to mention they were all chanting and yelling at cars to go to the red light near the palladium.
90% of the fans got dropped off by their parents.
I'm disgusted. |
LETHAL BAPTISM FOR ALL CHILDREN! |
Yeah it pissed me to see so many beardless boys in the crowd, so many women too!!! no offense to women, but most of them only go for idol worship or to impress their boyfriends.
Gojira was sick, first time I've heard music from them, must say I will buy an album sometime.
Amon Amarth, one of my favorite bands, so thus the best of the night for me, at first I was up front, then because I couldn't breathe I decided to hit the pit, had fun in their chanting the songs, pushing around people, getting knocked around, sliding on the sweat laden floors. I was sad they didn't play much of the older stuff, at least they played death in fire, but it doesn't matter anyways because I love the new stuff as well as the old. Sad they ended with persuit of vikings and not vs the world.
Bodom, stayed out of the crowd until needled 24/7 then stayed in the pit til the end, my injun friend got knocked in the nose, he bled all over some little kid. I was pissed that even though this is the fourth time I saw bodom, they did not play Black Widow.
Walked to white hen afterward (a concert tradition my friends and I have)
tons of people asked for my shit, I was suprised so many people knew who ensiferum were, at least at that show, or that they could read the logo from across the street.
all in all, the best palladium concert I have seen, and a good end to the four weekends of palladium concerts.
now I have to wait til february for Enslaved, and march for 1349 (at least for national bands) |
saw the show last night, I was the kid in the iced earth shirt with the blonde girlfriend. show was fucking amazing. sanctity kicked major ass, i loved their sound and stage presence. I did not like gojira AT ALL, very disappointed. amon amarth was spectacular, as was bodom. I wanna give special props to the bodom crew, the lighting and sound was spectacular. best show i've seen in a LONG time. |

I was suprised how many people said they didnt like Gojira.
They were half the reason I went. =/ |
The best part of the night for me was when I was taking a piss and the whole bathroom was complaining about how the Enslaved show is going to be 18+.
"Who are they playing with?"
"Dark Funeral."
"What? Bah, I don't like Black metal.."
Anyone else notice all the jailbait and pre-pubescent Frodo look alikes?
I think I saw a 70+ old lady looking to pick up her grandchild.
????????
ahhhhh whatever
I went to the show also, I was the one wearing the Opeth "Still Life" T-shirt. Only went to see Amon Amarth, who completely wrecked everyone else. Bodom was alright, but they got boring fast. Gojira was a nice surprise, and Sanctity, as someone else said, sounded like another "Trivium". I got to meet Johan (AA vocalist). I told him next time they need to headline. |
there were tons of people I saw turn and leave the minute amon amarth was done. Still, looking back in the crowd, there were tons of people there. Probably more that blind guardian.
children of bodom: probably the biggest set/set up I've seen them have yet. There are giant C O B lights wth lazers every where. Keep in mind, these are all backlighting so the pictures are going to blow. as soon as they started, the criss-crossing cowd surfers started. The staff looked like they were having a problem keeping up. Most of the people who usually watch from above were down in the pit, catching people. The huge COB didn't come on until a couple songs into the set. Most of the time, it illuminated the keyboardist drinking a beer (there was actually a dude there replacing the keyboardist's beer). I listened on the floor until beach blanket bodom and then walked to the back of the building and up to the balcony. The sound was incredible and the light was terrible for non-flash photography, but good for the crowd. |
eh, I was gonna go to this, but I blew it off to go play paintball insted.
more welts, less hot topic kids... works for me |
Sanctity sounded like a cross between silverchair, motorhead and ONYX. WTF. Just heard Gojira for the first time a couple days ago. Anyone have their new cd? It's siiiick. |
20 said: Sanctity sounded like a cross between silverchair, motorhead and ONYX. WTF. |
ha, glad i missed them |
Amon Amarth was the band that I wanted to see the most, but I showed up during their last song. WTF? For as long as I can remember, every show at the Palladium has started at 9:00, and the doors have always opened at 8:00. I didn't think that this show would start an entire hour earlier. I heard Amon Amarth only played for about 20 minutes, too. The Palladium has been sucking like that lately.
The place was ridiculously packed, and yes, there were A LOT of high school kids there. I was actually wondering how many of them bought their outfits at Hot Topic just for the show. In some ways, it's nice to see a lot of young people getting into metal. In other ways, it's downright annoying.
I was in the crowd for Children of Bodom. It was tightly packed, like one huge slowly moving sweaty mosh pit. Occasionally, pits would break out in the most random places. There were waaaayyyy too many crowd surfers. I kept seeing a lot of kids trying to pick up their friends so that they could crowd surf and failing miserably. I also saw a lot of crowd surfers get dropped. After being kicked in the head by a few crowd surfers, I generally want to kill them all.
I'm glad Children of Bodom played a couple of songs off Hatebreeder. I love that album. I'm not really a fan of their new stuff, though. |
Yeah, I thought the new stuff was old stuff I never heard of before, I don't know how people complain about their new stuff, I couldn't tell the difference. |
oh yeah, can't beleive no one else has bitched about the fact the fucking amon amarth sweat shirt was 60 bucks????
what the fuck, I bought my moonspell one for like 30 bucks at their show.
at least the shirts were still pretty cheap, about 25 for the short sleeve I got. |

you got a bargain with that moonspell hoodie. i'd say 90% of the hoodies i see for sale at ig shows are $60. |

Damn it! Maybe my friend told me that they only played for 20 minutes so that I wouldn't feel so bad about missing them. I was NOT HAPPY about it. |
i would have been pissed if i missed them. they went on earlier than i thought they were going to. we got there when gojira had about 2 songs left and i figured the first band would've still been on. |
There is also http://www.thepalladium.net as well.
I always remember the shows there starting around 9:00, sometimes 8:00. I think they've been starting them earlier within the last year or so. Either that, or they've made sure that there is less of a delay before the bands start. I've been to quite a few shows there when the first band didn't start until at least half an hour after the time when the show was supposed to start, which is pretty normal for a lot of venues.
I know a lot of people who got there at around 9:00 expecting that the first band would still be playing. |
I know when I do that, I miss bands. |
and yes, palladium shows are earlier now. I for one am thankful when I drive home at 11pm instead of 1am. |
the_reverend said: and yes, palladium shows are earlier now. I for one am thankful when I drive home at 11pm instead of 1am. |
I'm sure that it's definitely better now for those who have such a long drive home. I remember how nice it was when I used to live within walking distance to The Palladium. It didn't matter how late the show ended or whether there was an after party that lasted until 6:00AM. No matter what happened, the walk home was always fun. |
the_reverend said: and yes, palladium shows are earlier now. I for one am thankful when I drive home at 11pm instead of 1am. |
Remember when mayhem played upstairs there? and they showed up at 2 am? I remember being one of ten people in the audience, and I remember the clock striking 4:00 am while I was driving home. It was a cold december night, and I recall feeling the loneliest I've ever felt on that drive. |
I remember when Mayhem played there but I don't remember it being that late. |
Are you talking about April 1st 2000? Cause it was alot more than 10 people.
This was my 5th time seeing CoB (prolly gunna be the last til they get new stuff so I can stop hearing songs from AYDY) second time seeing Amon Amarth and first time for Gojira and Sanctity.
Someone mentioned that there was only one crowd surfer for Sanctity...that was me. I went u for Zeppo and I think Seconds. I seemed to be one of the few people that really enjoyed them. I thought they were impressive for an opener.
Gojira was a little dissapointing. Idk, just couldn't get into them. Didn't help that their opening song was kind of a downer. I DID like that one of them had my guitar though, lol.
Amon Amarth was great, just like the first time I saw them. They are very charismatic as someone already mentioned and they always get the crowd going. Runes to my Memory was a very moving song.
CoB was amazing as always. It kind of sucks that ever since AYDY they play Living Dead Beat, Are You Dead Yet?, In Your Face and We're not Gunna Fall. Not saying those songs are bad or anything, but I'd rather here so many other songs. I was very surprised to hear the Mask of Sanity/Deadnight Warrior mix, but dissapointed they didn't play Kissing the Shadows like I thought they were gunna. I didn't mind not hearing crowd favorites such as Silent Night Bodom Night, Hate Crew Deathroll and Everytime I Die since I've heard them so many times lives before.
All in all, great show. Would have been better if the kid in the front row standing next to me would have put his fat arms down for 2 seconds of the CoB set. And a word to all you 15 and 16 year olds in the first few rows...HOLD YOUR OWN OR STOP BITCHING!! Thank you :-D |
