I think that drug tests are a violation of privacy. Whatever you choose to do outside of work should be your own business, as long as it's not affecting your work performance.
Firing someone right before christmas is a pretty crappy thing to do. |

consider the fact that most people arent responsible. yeah i for one can work while stoned and not fuck anything up, but there are many who cant. they are incapable of function and can potentially get hurt or cost the company money. |

i could understand them being angry, and i know if i was running a business or managing one, i would not want any of my employees holding any sort of illegal substance while on the clock, for a few reasons....but either way, they should have given you a warning. pretty stupid to just fire you right away. it's not like it's crack...although i'd give someone a raise for smoking crack to get their work done nice and fast, hahaha |

so people that do not do drugs are actually fired cause the test turned up positive it is BS..
I don't do drugs but i feel that if you want to go for it.. just don't make me do it. i mean most of my friends do drugs right in front of me and it doesn't bother me at all

I'm straightedge so drug tests don't really apply to me, but I don't necessarily agree with them
Consider this, getting caught with a little weed or paraphenalia is a misdemeanor in most places in New England. You get processed and stuck with probation for 6 months which is usually commuted to a fine or community service. Its like getting a bad speeding ticket or selling alcohol to minors. So why don't people get fired for having a bad driving record or throwing ragers for underage college kids?
That said, I definitely would not want to work with someone who is coked out all the time. Fuck that, no. |

Wow, that's bullshit dude...sure it's fine to use addictive deadly drugs like caffeine, tobacco, and alcohol, (which along with sleep, affects job performance more than anything else) but smoke pot and we'll fire you...WTF? There's an easy way to deal with this though, don't bother applying at places that are retarded enough to have a drug testing policy. Why would you want to work for people who obviously don't respect either your rights or privacy anyways? Sounds like a clear sign that they'd treat you like shit. |

and from a business owner's standpoint, having an employee possessing/under the influence of ILLEGAL substance(s) while on the clock or in a location where business is being conducted is a liability. it doesn't matter what's more harmful, it's the fact that marijuana, no matter what your stance on it is, is illegal. some employers will give a warning; those who want to take risks just keep it on the down low. since griff's (sinisterminister) boss is married to a cop, it makes sense why she would fire him. i don't agree with having him fired right off the bat of course, but it could have caused a lot more problems for the company if she had NOT fired him and word got out about it. |
