Norwegian symphonic black metallers DIMMU BORGIR have entered Studio Fredman with producer Fredrik Nordström to begin recording their new album for an early 2007 release. DIMMU guitarist Silenoz checks in with the following recording update:
"So, just to let you know, everything moves along nicely in the studio, perhaps a bit too well…? With past studio ghost experiences in mind, something is just bound to happen… I'm sure of it. Well, apart from being the typical pessimist, at least it didn't take us too long to get all the basic rhythm guitar tracks down and even better - it sounds awesome! A fat and razor-sharp tone, without compromise, hitting you right between the eyes! Proper equipment — Engl amps, ESP guitars and Seymour Duncan pickups — make things hell of a lot easier, I say. Leads/solos and acoustic/clean guitars will be laid down later when everything else is ready. Bass and keys are up next. We expect it to sound nothing less than grandiose once this beast is finished. Oh, yeah, almost forgot, we have the album title as well, but we're not gonna announce it until the time is right!"

Boo. This band is entirely gay.

For All Tid is a pretty good album.

toggletoggle post by dreadkill  at Oct 24,2006 7:14pm
i like some of their stuff.

toggletoggle post by ConquerTheBaphomet  at Oct 24,2006 7:42pm
The only thing I'll give them is that they're better than Cradle of Filth and they are both in the same mall-goth black metal scene.

toggletoggle post by sinistas   at Oct 24,2006 8:03pm
and they've both shared the fat drumming skills of nick barker.

toggletoggle post by dreadkill  at Oct 24,2006 8:04pm
and now they have hellhammer, so at least we know the drumming will be incredible on this album

toggletoggle post by sinistas   at Oct 24,2006 8:20pm
nick barker is my drumming counterpart.

toggletoggle post by dreadkill  at Oct 24,2006 8:20pm
i don't think i have a drumming counterpart

toggletoggle post by ConquerTheBaphomet  at Oct 24,2006 8:22pm
My drumming counterpart is Lord Marco.

True story, bitches.

toggletoggle post by sinistas   at Oct 24,2006 8:24pm
so you say.

toggletoggle post by sinistas   at Oct 24,2006 8:25pm
it's probably Shades from That Thing You Do.

toggletoggle post by ConquerTheBaphomet  at Oct 24,2006 9:44pm
I don't even know who that is.

toggletoggle post by dreadkill  at Oct 24,2006 10:14pm
i don't either. he must be on drugs.

toggletoggle post by Hoser at Oct 24,2006 10:23pm
I love this band...can't wait.

toggletoggle post by xiwontletgo   at Oct 24,2006 10:38pm
honestly, im pretty pumped for this release.

toggletoggle post by Yeti at Oct 24,2006 11:29pm
yeah i cant wait for this either. they fucking rule.

toggletoggle post by sxealex   at Oct 25,2006 12:08am
yea ill fourth that. they have pretty enthralling soundscapes...

toggletoggle post by sxealex   at Oct 25,2006 12:10am
btw i thought nick barker did a great job on the previous couple albums

toggletoggle post by SacreligionNLI at Oct 25,2006 8:12am
yeah i don't think any drummer can hold a candle to nick barker just because of his sheer power, speed, and intricate fills

i love this band to death and can't wait to hear what this sounds like(didn't they say they were going for a rawer black metal sound this time? or is that just what every black metal band says?)

p.s. shades is only good at jazz drumming, he got lucky on that one song

I'm willing to bet a dollar that it'll be three words and make no sense. Who wants some of this action?

(I'll buy it. They make enjoyable records, if nothing else, and I'm a Simen Hestnaes fan, so I'll buy it, and then make merciless fun of it on RTTP so you know I'm Kvlt.)

hellhammer is an all-around better drummer.

toggletoggle post by Yeti at Oct 25,2006 10:41am
i have to agree with mike, however i am not in any way shape or form saying that Hellhammer cant do what Nick Barker does. i've seen Hellhammer drum, and its not something you can easily wrap your brain around. Hellhammer's style will bring a new dimension to Dimmu, i'm really interested to see where it takes them. i am willing to bet that it wont be as blistering in speed as the previous works. it will have its moments, but i dont think it will be as up in your face.

toggletoggle post by dreadkill  at Oct 25,2006 11:32am
i think hellhammer can do things barker can't or at least hasn't from what i've heard.

toggletoggle post by Yeti at Oct 25,2006 12:47pm
i just hope that this doesnt end up sounding like The Kovenant's "In Times Before the Light".

toggletoggle post by anonymous at Oct 27,2006 7:37pm
hit it hard, harder, much harder, now faster, speed it up, kick it!
