MA metal band looking for a screamer.
(High, low, median range, male, female, young, old, we really don't give a shit.)
More importantly, we want to be sure you can get along with the band, that you're into the music, and that you have no problem singing someone else's lyrics. I know that's tough for a vocalist to put up with, but we've already got a demo recorded, and more than a full set's worth of material, so we aren't really up for rewriting everything. We've already done that once, fuck doing it again. It also helps if you are into the lyrics, we wouldn't expect someone who has strong feelings about a subject singing something from the opposite side of it. (i.e. We know that no Christian wants to be expected to sing songs about loving Satan, like Tom Araya does.) Our music's being re-tooled to better fit the sound we're looking to acheive, so the style of music is hard to pin down just now. Our influences vary from the most extreme death and black metal to stuff you'd hear on Ozzfest or whatever. Anyway, if you hear the MP3's you'll figure out what we sound like, and know right off whether it's something you're into or not. We're getting ready to demo out all of the material that we haven't already recorded so that our future singer has reference material from which to learn the vocal patterns and memorize the lyrics, so it should be pretty easy to fit right in on the musical front in a fairly short period of time.
We've only got a few pre-req's, and they're easy...
You've got to be willing to:
-practice weekly. Saturdays noon to 3PM, in Taunton, MA (unless we have a show, of course.)
-play shows mostly weekends, mostly within reasonable driving distance.
-take this band completely seriously. We feel that the whole lineup change thing's overrated, and it's tough enough to find someone in the first place. If you're not
100% sure you want to commit, please don't bother answering this. We also get that you might already have another band going, that's fine with us, just don't treat this like a "side thing" or a half-assed hobby, we're a band, not a pet project, so please treat it that way. I do, despite two other full time bands.
-lastly, the band will be working around the schedules of two other bands, three jobs, school, girlfriends, wives, kids, etc., so if the schedule gets hectic, or practices get cancelled or moved, have an understanding that this sort of shit can sometimes happen. We've learned the gentle art of being OK with folks not always being able to make practice. It's cool.
