Fair trade hurts the third world. Why do you think conservatives advocate making illegals get the same wages as everyone else? Companies will stop bothering to hire third world workers. Companies will stop investing in going to the third world when they can spend less money by just hiring more people here at home and not paying for travel expenses. Same with buying stuff. The only reason why companies buy stuff from certain regions is because it's cheaper. Take away that incentive, and you've made the third world worse.
