Featuring ex-members of LETHARGY and KALIBAS, SULACO excel
at the unconventional, shattering preconceptions and genre-boundaries in one
fell swoop. SULACO's debut mini-CD unveils a fluid fusion of futuristic,
tech-metal chops, articulate song craft, and refined aggression. The trio's
attack -- equal parts intelligent and innate -- is spearheaded by
vocalist/guitarist Erik Burke's sandpaper screams and bent, twisted riff
engineering. This high-impact debut is certain to turn heads, fry minds and
introduce another progenitor in the 21st century metal lexicon a new
sulaco cd was released on relapse records on june 10

Um, no. Sounds like they're trying to be too many things and not being too good at them. More metalcore than grind.

And that paragraph immediately made me think less of them:

"SULACO excel at the unconventional, shattering preconceptions and genre-boundaries in one fell swoop."
"equal parts intelligent and innate"
"This high-impact debut is certain to turn heads, fry minds and introduce another progenitor in the 21st century metal lexicon"

Might as well say they're the future of all metal since all that = another band to not notice. Reminds of 78 of Thomas Lindburg's 81 bands that are all hype and no balls.

By the end of the song they sound like a bad Soilent Green rip.
Not my thing.

I like these guys. their MCD sounds great.
Id go and see them.
also their buddies PsyOpus are cool tech stuff.
Rochester is totally inbred.
If ya want to talk to SULACO diecrtly go to the Relapse board... they all live on it.

put us on the bill with them. we dig it.

we played a show with them not too long ago. really nice guys. personally though, i found thier music to be rather...feh. i agree with DeOdium. they have elements of a lot of things, but don't really seem to nail any of it. but what do i know, they're on relapse and we aren't. :/

Ahahahahahahaha, the more a band's built up in an ad, the more they suck...example:

EMPEROR
ad: "Prometheus is album. emperor."
sounds like: the epitome of good, smart black-fucking-metal
reception: emperor is famous.

SVAARSTROM
ad: SVAARSTROM are masters at CRAFTING epic and hypnotic black opuses that will fill your veins with ice!!!! thier blasphemous and RAW assault will unwind your fragile DNA and infuse it with pure HATE!!!!!!!!! TRULY THE NEW KINGS OF BLACK METAL ARE HERE!!!!! LET THIER UNHOLY RIECH DEFILE THE CHRISTIAN SOULS!!!!!!!!!"
sounds like: my toilet
reception: stromgalder's mom lets them make the basement an unholy abyss of pure melevolent vengeance if they do the dishes and are in bed by 11.

and judging by the dictionary relapse poured into that ad, im guessing sulaco is a handicapped chewing on a spoon.

What's up Phantos.......ha ha! I see you folks are discussing the Sulaco. Thank you for the fancy smancy description. We prefer Sulaco is a full-on gay assault with lots-o gay.
Where am I anyway? What is this site?
Dave, where did we play together?

-Chris

Wow...this shit was old news....hello anyway.

I think they kick ass. Technical grind. A little bit of hardcore, not to much otherwise I would have hated it. Overall great band.

Howdy Ass!

Phantos, we might see you in May with Exhumed.....hopefully.

Hello Nengland.

They make nice beer coasters too.

toggletoggle post by dyingmuse   at Feb 20,2004 10:58am
i wont even listen to it because of the gay pretentious description.
i already agree with deodium

toggletoggle post by Assemancipator  at Feb 20,2004 1:04pm
Hey it's not our description, we are more like the opposite of pretentious, my shit stinks bad. And we just play metal. We claim nothing other than Sulaco's bass player Lon has very very long dreads and his gear makes ceiling tiles fall. If you want to actually give an opinion, take 15 seconds and click on the music (or songs or whatever) link at www.sulaco.us

My opinion's just my opinion. Take a listen and decide for yourselves. I might catch you guys at Sick as Sin, maybe it'll strike me better live.

Cool man. That fest sounds like fun. Make sure you introduce yourself.

I will.
When someone says "Hi, I'm a dickhead" that'll be me.
Any clue which stage/club/thing you'll be on? I hope the 3 bands I want to see don't overlap, I'd be rather unhappy.

Yeah, I have no details about the stage stuff. I just hope I don't miss BBTS.
