Due to copyright and trademark issues, the band formerly known as RHAPSODY has changed its name to RHAPSODY OF FIRE. The band members consider this a great new start, reflecting the emboldened and increasingly grandiose direction that their music has taken. "The power of the dragonflame will burn brighter than ever before," says guitarist/songwriter Luca Turilli. Keyboardist/songwriter Alex Staropoli adds, "The name RHAPSODY OF FIRE better represents the energy that has always been present in this band and its music."

With a new record company in Magic Circle Music, a new tour planned and a new album on the way, RHAPSODY OF FIRE will continue to explore musical fantasy worlds with the precision musicianship and unique symphonic concepts that their fans have come to expect and adore. Fresh on the heels of the band's first live album release, "Live In Canada 2005 - The Dark Secret", a new name and renewed vigor ensure that RHAPSODY OF FIRE still hold the passion and power that have always been associated with their music.

I can't believe they go by "Italian Film Score Metal"

with that said, there has been nothing in my life more amusing than when this super hot jewish girl I'm friends with picked me up one day and was listening to Rhapsody. I kinda wanted to do her, but that's not really what we're about.

oh. Dour is pronounced like sour with a d, and the cursiva part...you can either make the "I" sound like "ee" or "ih"

so I guess, dour cur-see-va or dour cur-sih-va. Most of the guys in the band say the "ee" one, but frankly it don't matter.

Dour means "harsh or solemn" and cursiva may or may not be a latin word that essentially just means "script or mark"

So the short answer is that to us Dour Cursiva represents a harsh (or br00tal) mark we hope to leave behind.

The drummer who just parted ways with us came up with it, we've been trying to justify it ever since..haha.

I'd say the fact that a hot Jewish girl was listening to Rhapsody was the amusing part. But both can be independently amusing given the right circumstances.
