i'd rather watch a palsy patient in a tar pit than read a rttp political thread. though any rttp thread blows any bridge 9 thread away by 5,000 intellectual points.

Political threads are fine by me. The problem is most of them are:

Liberal #1: Bush is a terrorist! We should cut his head off!
Conservative #1: Well if you think Bush is such a terrorist why don't you get the fuck out of America? We don't need people here who disagree with us conservatives!
Liberal #1: As soon as I graduate high school I WILL get the fuck out of America!
Conservative #1: Good! Well maybe then we can have some decent gun laws in Massachusetts! I can't believe I'm not allowed to walk down the street with an assault rifle over my shoulder.
Liberal #2: Why don't you bring your assault rifle to Iraq and join in the oil-hunt!
Conservative #1: FUCK YOU ARE YOU SAYING YOU DON'T CARE ABOUT OUR TROOPS!??! IF YOU DON'T SUPPORT THE WAR CLEARLY YOU WANT ALL OF OUR TROOPS TO DIE!

And so on... I like the occasional intelligent politics talk void of personal insults and over-zealous, drunken metalheads touting opinion as fact.

Honestly, the "turn sXe, or DIE!" threads piss me off A LOT more than any political thread, even if hoser is behind it (posting fecal matter).

I'd rather see people take a stance (any stance) on politics than to be completely neutral and act like they don't exist.

its not so much about taking a stance, its that the debates never get anywhere because no one can respect anothers opinion. its not even a matter of agreeing, its just that if you have an opinion that conflicts someone else, then you are a piece of shit loser for disagreeing with them.

I saw one point made. Michael Rendezvous said he doesn't like it when people try to force straightedge on people. This seemed to set xmikex off for some reason, and from then on no points were made, nor was there anything to make a point on. Such is the power of the internet.

I couldn't give less of a shit about some band I've never heard of releasing another crappy album.
I like to see other metalheads opinions and we have fun disagreeing with each other.
