With Fear I Kiss the Burning Darkness.
Overlooked.
Underappreciated.
Songwriting that can't be copied, overdone or totally rehashed.

With Fear I Kiss the Burning Darkness...hands fucking down!
The riffs guy... the fucking riffs are unmatched. Swedish metal at its finest.

Toss up for me between Terminal Spirit Disease and Red in the Sky is Ours. Two great fucking albums that I can listen to front to back.

Jesus, this one is hard.

I like all four albums....LOVE the lyrics on the old albums....but man, overall I still like Slaughter of the Soul the most, even with all the crappy metalcore it spawned.

Can't help it, I have to vote for that one.

As for Swedish metal is concerned, Terminal Spirit is second ONLY to With Fear I kiss the Burning Darkness...

"It is our world- It has been stolen from us, bastards!!!"

Can't agree that At the Gates is the best Swedish metal band, not by a longshot.

"Left Hand Path" and "The Nocturnal Silence" all the way.

I'm with Jawsh on this one. the fucking RIFFS....

toggletoggle post by BornSoVile   at Jul 11,2006 2:23am
Anthony knows what's up.
Havn't heard Necrophobic yet, I'm very curious.

toggletoggle post by arilliusBM  at Jul 11,2006 2:57am
With Fear by far.

it's a 3 way tie for me: With Fear/Terminal Spirit/Slaughter of the Soul

I really can't pick a winner, they're all great albums. and I agree with Scott, the fact that Slaughter was a KILLER album, even though it helped spawn the vast majority of the metalcore movement

KILLER FUCKING ALBUM!

Wolverine Blues was quite good as well, although much more refined then LHP (and rather tame comparitively, but still on my top 20)

See, I actually think the riffs on Slaughter are better than With Fear, and the songwriting is more concise.

Oh well, it's not like any of the records are bad.

toggletoggle post by cdan nli at Jul 11,2006 11:21am
they put out something other than Slaughter?

toggletoggle post by DrinkHardThrashHard  at Jul 11,2006 11:58am

You'll probably hate me for this, but I must say that I was never too impressed with Entomed. They remind me of Callenish Circle, if I remember correctly . I never heard Necrophobic but I'll sure as shit check them out.

I don't hate you for it. But wouldn't it be the other way around?

Entombed was formed in 1987. They are a legendary, influential band.

Callenish Circle was formed five years later in 1992. Callenish Circle is also not Swedish, they are Dutch. They also suck. Did you hear that new piece of shit album? One of the most mediocre records I've ever heard. And it sounds nothing like Entombed.

toggletoggle post by hungtableed at Jul 11,2006 12:53pm
I really wasnt trying to say that they Entombed copied them or anything, I just get the same vibe when I hear the two. It just never did anything for me especially when sized next to my personal favorite which is At the Gates. And no, I havn't heard the new Callenish, I seriously almost cannot stand that band. The singer blows and the riffs are lame.

Agreed (on Callenish).

At the Gates was actually somewhat influenced by Entombed, you should listen to the first two Entombed records "Left Hand Path" and "Clandestine", maybe you'd like those?

Necrophobic is similar to old Entombed but not exactly.

necrophobic? ST00PID.

Does anyone else think Bloodbath is a total Entombed ripoff??

i like Bloodbath, but I could see that being true for the 1st 2 records. Nightmares Made Flesh is different though. Cool record.

Well, clearly they will not appeal to anyone who spells stupid that way.

toggletoggle post by anonymous at Jul 11,2006 9:16pm
clearly they appeal to know it all metal losers.

toggletoggle post by DrinkHardThrashHard  at Jul 11,2006 9:20pm
Why yes, all of us know it all metal losers are too ST00PID to spell basic English words and pussy-post anonymously.

toggletoggle post by wade at Jul 11,2006 10:05pm
the expressed intent of Bloodbath was to pay tribute to specific bands and their respective sounds. Anything other than that (as in evolution) just happened.

classics in every sense. the Nihilist demos fucking rule, too. especially considering how old those guys were at the time.

What the fuck, why is there no option to vote for "Unhallowed"? that's my favorite AtG album by far

Brilliant Dar. Brilliant.
