Exodus, Celtic Frost, Destruction, Kreator, Slayer etc...all still around and all still relevant but where's the new crop of thrashers carrying the torch? And I don't mean "retro thrash", "black thrash", or "death thrash"...there wasn't distinction like that back then. Bathory was just as much thrash as Forbidden, just a different approach. Municipal Waste seems to be the one leading the charge with true to form crossover thrash as if it was 1986. Where's the new crop of white hi top, stretch jean, leather jacket, bullet belt, muscle shirt wearing thrash bands?? I know of CSDO, Extinction Agenda and Blistered Earth but that can't be all...can it?

Dew Scented and Hatesphere.

Sorry we don't have muscle shirts, but:

Abhorred

There's one song from our first CD on there, but the new record is gonna piss all over Wallowing.

They seem more Swedish influenced to me...not true to form

cormid is pretty sick, massive power from mexico are really worth checking out. the bludgeoning's thrash stuff, abhorred, rapid decay although after a few songs they get boring, same with action hero although i heard they got a real drummer now so maybe not anymore

my other prject when we're not being gay with songs like jupiter 7
http://www.myspace.com/volatilethrash

I'll order some white high tops and a muscle shirt for my next gig. Just for you.

In the meantime, check out Thargos, I believe they might be what you are looking for. Also Aura Noir and Audiopain.

Where can I hear Thargos and Audiopain? Aura Noir I feel is more towards black than straight up thrash

Thargos has a couple records, 'Salem City' is the latest and in my opinion greatest. I agree with you on Aura Noir but they defintiely have a lot of that real basic early thrash in there like almost direct ripoffs of Celtic Frost riffs. I just asked Intruder for an interview for the first issue of my new 'zine. I am psyched.

I'll have to make you a CD-R or IM you the songs or something. There were those others you wanted too.

a cdr with some of that would be cool! I'd rather listen and judge for myself anyway! how can i get hooked up?

toggletoggle post by DrinkHardThrashHard  at May 2,2006 12:08am
Well, I'll try and put one together. Make me a list of what you want and then PM me your address?!?

toggletoggle post by AUTOPSY_666   at May 2,2006 1:15am
KING'S EVIL are killer.

toggletoggle post by dwellingsickness at May 2,2006 5:37am
You can get FKU on slsk, I am not sure of the other bands

toggletoggle post by DrinkHardThrashHard  at May 2,2006 9:40am edited May 2,2006 9:40am
King's Evil is pretty cool, I have that too. Ritual Carnage is a better band, except for the vocals. Had the new Ritual Carnage CD gone with harsher vocals, it might have been the best thrash record in over a decade, but instead they went with the higher-than-Joey Belladona-style which can be annoying.

toggletoggle post by Jugulator at May 2,2006 3:22pm
Dew Scented and Terror 2000.

toggletoggle post by DrinkHardThrashHard  at May 2,2006 3:23pm
Both of those are good, but I'm not sure he's into the Swedish melodeath thrash. Maybe he is. They've been around for awhile though, and Dew-Scented early albums were pretty pure death metal.

toggletoggle post by AUTOPSY_666   at May 2,2006 4:11pm
MINISTRY OF TERROR were pretty cool, and MORTUARY (France).

BLOODQUEST from virginia beach.
those kids are awesome.

toggletoggle post by DrinkHardThrashHard  at May 3,2006 12:15am
Terror 2000 most certainly does not suck on some of their songs. Ideberg is an incredible riff-writer. The lyrics suck, and some of Speed's vocals suck, but damn, that 2nd album had some smoking riffs that iw ish i had thought up.

It hasn't 'died' per se, it's just been absorbed into black, death, melodeath, grind, tech-death, gothencore, and even dreaded metalcore who think its great now to take a crappy thrash riff and then burst into moshdowns and clean vocals.

Then again, pure thrash metal was already dead for a long time. if anything, it's coming back a little. people are sick of all the shit. this is why Kreator made big money on a US tour and thrash bands are getting signed.

Regardless, I'll still play this style with ExAgenda b/c that is where my heart is, and always was.

Kreator, Exodus, and Bolt Thrower can't be considered "new thrash champoins" They've been around for 20 years I can't really call that new. They're still kings though but the point of this thread was to name some new bands that are still carrying the flame.

With that said, CoB, new or old, was never thrash no matter how you cut it. And Dew-Scented is just fucking lame and boring.

i was very happy to read RAOV's article in the phoenix recently. they are definitely one of the4 best metal bands in new england and it was good to see them get some published recognition.

toggletoggle post by AUTOPSY_666   at May 3,2006 8:19pm
Rich (MASlayer) said CRYPTIC WARNING are not Thrash, he is the expert.

toggletoggle post by armageddann at May 3,2006 9:52pm
Witchtrap (Columbia)
Nocturnal
Toxic Holocaust
..and fucking Aura Noir (well, with the BM touch)

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at May 3,2006 10:09pm
CW are too thrash. if rich doesnlt recognize that, he needs new ears.

The Bolt Thrower demo I have is very much thrash metal. But of course, for most of their career, the Bolt Thrower that became famous was a death metal band.

I would not say Random Acts of Violence or Cryptic Warning are pure thrash bands, but they certainly have a hell of a lot of thrash in there. So why the hell has my band not played with them yet?

HAHAHA, but Yngwie is from Sweden to begin with...

but you're right, Bodom definately isn't thrash, they've some 'thrashy riffs' but they've always been a melodic metal band with obscene guitar/keyboard wankery (which, yes, I still love to listen to)

toggletoggle post by maslayer at May 5,2006 7:55am
cryptic warning are NOT THRASH...it's thrash influenced DM in my opinion...let's compare them to say testament, Wargasm,Exciter, Forbidden etc...music is tight sure..the vocals kill it for me hence making them more death metal IMO...looking forward to hear RAOV though...and yes I am the expert...thanks for recognizing John!
