LAMB OF GOD have set "Sacrament" as the title of their highly anticipated album release, due late Summer 2006 via Epic Records.

The group has been unusually tight lipped about the new recording, turning down all but a select few in-studio and pre-studio interviews. No listening sessions, demo recordings or audio samples have been granted or released.

News from March 2nd notes that the band had once again tapped friend and producer Machine (‘Ashes of the Wake’) to handle the production duties for “Sacrament”.

At that time drummer Chris Adler had the following to say.

“Everyone wants to know what the new material is like or have us compare it to something. It’s tough to do because when your proud of something you want to say it’s better than something else or that it’s more of this or that. I don’t want to do that – every LAMB OF GOD album has been a snapshot in time, a puzzle that spelled out who we are as individual musicians and as a band. They each represent a certain amount of experience and ability – and without saying more, we now have more of both of those than ever. We have continued to raise the bar for ourselves in every aspect of what we do, and we are expecting more of ourselves than ever heading into this. We’re looking forward to tracking and releasing this intense and very heavy release.”

News surfaced that as of April 11th drummer Chris Adler had finished tracking drums at Spin Recording studios in Long Island City, New York.

All interviews with Chris and his brother Willie Adler were cancelled during the drum tracking session and several more have been cancelled as the band continues tracking guitars and vocals in Richmond, VA.

In the most recent news from the camp guitarist Mark Morton had the following comments on the recording and the material:

"There's an intensity to this project that feels heavier than previous records. The vibe around the sessions has been serious. Not in a conflict sort of way, just more focused and driven than ever before.
We know we're onto something. I've done very few interviews over the course of these sessions and everybody wants to know titles and track listings and details like that, but we're not coming off of that kind of stuff just yet. It's too early. This record's way too important to us to allow anyone in until the five of us are in agreement that it's exactly how we want it. It's definitely not a casual approach this time around. We really want this album to have an impact....it feels like it will."

LAMB OF GOD is scheduled to set out on the Unholy Alliance Tour with Slayer, Children of Bodom and Mastodon beginning on June 6. The final dates including additional headlining concerts will be announced at http://www.lamb-of-god.com shortly.

i wonder if itll sound just like all the other records but more dynamic and powerful and catchery then ever before.

you're all just jealous of how awesome this band is

i like 'as the palaces burn', the only one I have, but all their records sound the same

toggletoggle post by Sacreligion at Apr 25,2006 8:40pm
they must be nu-metal or something

aww crap i gotta pistol whip myself

Randy's new vocal style is very new metal scream style. Short syllables, long break, short syllables, long breaks. Repeat.

at some point one really long scream that is studio produced to make him seem like a "badass"

toggletoggle post by mOe  at Apr 25,2006 8:59pm
LOG have been numetal for a couple years now

toggletoggle post by Sacreligion at Apr 25,2006 9:06pm
dude he has one of the best voices around...i've seen em live twice and he can hold screams longer than pretty much anyone, while smoking a cigarette

toggletoggle post by Sacreligion at Apr 25,2006 9:06pm
and motherfuckers need to understand what nu-metal is

it's dead...you can't make comparisons anymore

toggletoggle post by brian_dc  at Apr 25,2006 9:10pm
I know he can hold them long. But it doesn't mean that his delivery isn't totally nu-metal.

You need to understand that nu-metal isn't dead. It found a hybrid form with really groovy metalcore. It might not have bass slaps and "the sickness" but it has elements of nu-metal.

I really don't consider Lamb Of God to be knu-metal...or however you spell it. I just always considered them to be straight-ahead heavy metal...plain and simple. I think they get a bad wrap because all the scenexmetalxisuckdickxcore kids seem to like them

toggletoggle post by brian_dc  at Apr 25,2006 9:27pm
no seriously...I look above that...it's Randy's breathing. He changed his vocal style completely between albums and now his delivery is similar to that of the screaming new metal bands.

ohh yeah, I too have noticed the change of vocal style between records...but i have to say that I don't mind his current vocal style...on the plus side, you can understand more of what he says now

And for the record, I hated nu-metal and despise most metalcore out there today

I wouldn't mind hearing more of the vocals if the lyrics were kinda like....good. I liked New American Gospel a lot.

I have to agree with you there.....as much as I like the newer stuff, the lyrics on New American Gospel were fucking awesome

I actually agree with Brian DS-lips on this one, if Randy went back to NAG vocals, that band would rule once again...understanding the words doesnt matter, the vocals off that record are about as close to beautiful as I can imagine

toggletoggle post by Sacreligion at Apr 25,2006 10:49pm
funny...i didn't like those vocals that much...too much high-pitched shrieking...but i always thought it had a lot to do with the recording quality as well(the overall clarity of his voice)

he changed his voice because he got vocal lessons from that melissa cross chick...he does it differently now so that he can continue screaming for years without blowing out his voice

toggletoggle post by brian_dc  at Apr 25,2006 10:50pm
yeah...but isn't that just a form of copping out? It is to me.

hardly, he wants to perform music for the rest of his life and can't very well do so if he blows out his voice after a 3 month tour

toggletoggle post by brian_dc  at Apr 25,2006 10:59pm
You think Randy's going to be screaming when he's 50? Do you think that would be cool?

toggletoggle post by brian_dc  at Apr 25,2006 10:59pm
I guess as far as music and art goes I like to go all out and deal with the consequences as they come.

toggletoggle post by Sacreligion at Apr 25,2006 11:00pm
ugh...you took that far too literally

toggletoggle post by Sacreligion at Apr 25,2006 11:00pm
i see what you mean but you can't keep making art if you can't physically do it anymore

toggletoggle post by brian_dc  at Apr 25,2006 11:01pm
yeah, but you did your best shit while you were doing it. Better than doing a percentage of your ability for a long time. That's my opinion, you are welcome to your own, of course.

the best way to get a physical rest with an album is to make a doom or stoner album. or just become a doom/stoner band

haha, I'd like to see DC do the whole doom/stoner for a little while, you know....give it a little bit of a change of pace

maybe for us since we play instruments...vocal strain is an entirely different subject

how do you think your singers would do after 65 days of playing in a row?

toggletoggle post by brian_dc  at Apr 25,2006 11:12pm
I have stuff written that I just figure doesn't work for us. Probably about an EP's worth. And cav is a stoner...it's not out of the question.

they would likely drop dead, but if there's anyone that feels more strongly about this it would be the vocalists in my band. They need to start doing work on the side to keep their shit together.

haha

so in conclusion...balls to the wall=really awesome music but honed technique=longevity of awesomeness

toggletoggle post by brian_dc  at Apr 25,2006 11:19pm
I guess for vocals I want them to be more natural than polished...vocals are supposed to be the message and all that sappy stuff. So meaning should establish the delivery, not necessarily balls to the walls. But when you hone yourself into protecting yourself first, I don't feel like it's as honest.

Just like anything. I don't think a lot of pop music is honest, because it is so polished. But if you look back at someone like Elvis Costello, that guy means everything he sings and put every bit of energy necessary for the meaning into every note.

that's just what I dig.

toggletoggle post by Sacreligion at Apr 25,2006 11:22pm
ahh yes...the clapton effect

toggletoggle post by Anthony at Apr 25,2006 11:24pm
if you're smart, you can have good technique and be more "balls-to-the-wall" than ever. Good technique doesn't hinder you from going crazy, in fact it makes it easier to put more energy into performing.

toggletoggle post by brian_dc  at Apr 25,2006 11:24pm
more or less...I mean...all of these metalcore all-stars are taking lessons from this same lady. I feel like their deliveries are becoming similar...why would you want to learn to sound like someone else? That's how things get stale.

toggletoggle post by Anthony at Apr 25,2006 11:26pm
that dvd doesnt teach you how to actually do vocals.. there's no growling techniques. it's about how to use your breath and vocal chords properly. You just apply them to your own vocal style.

I guess I just don't like the results that I've heard so far.

toggletoggle post by Sacreligion at Apr 25,2006 11:29pm
that's the same reason why i never took lessons

i watched some of that zen of screaming dvd and she says the whole point is just learning how to do it without tearing up your throat and other things you can do while not performing to help keep it intact

the whole sounding alike thing comes hand in hand with any genre of music...virtually every power metal singer from the 80s sounds the same because they were trying to emulate what was successful at the time, as have most bands for all of "recorded music" history

that always happens to me...i'll write a response and in the time that i write it someone else says what i'm going to say and then i look like a jerkoff...haha

taking lessons has been awesome for me...I guess I'm a hypocrite...meh

toggletoggle post by Sacreligion at Apr 25,2006 11:36pm
yeah but you approach playing with a lot more music theory in mind, which is where those lessons come in handy

i learned from tabs and my favorite songs, so when i first started writing songs(when i was wicked young, not even in a band, writing actual nu-metal...HA!) i was limited to what i was familiar with

after joining sac though i've found it much easier to explore new things since none of our songs sound alike(which is why i love us so much, as retardedly arrogant as that may sound)

i learned alot from that DVD as well. it didnt polish up my voice or make me sound whiny like these metalcore bands now, it just allowed me to do what i do without the pain or damage at the end. i still sing the same, its just way more controlled. i personally cant wait for this album, Lamb of God fucking rules, and so does Opeth and Dimmu Borgir.

Agreed, it helped with my breathing alot.
