DE QUEEN, Ark. - Police found the bodies of three children lying side-by-side on a bed in their home Saturday after their mother said she smothered them, investigators said.

Officers were sent to the southwestern Arkansas home after the father called authorities from New York saying his wife had confessed to the killings.

Paula Eleazar Mendez, 43, collapsed when officers arrived and was taken to a hospital to be treated for ingesting a toxic substance, officials said. She was under guard there until she could be taken to a jail to face homicide charges, Police Chief Richard McKinley said.

Notes found in the house may disclose a motive, McKinley said, though he would not elaborate.

Officers discovered the 6-year-old twin boys and their 8-year-old sister on a queen-size bed in what appeared to be a master bedroom near the rear of the wood-frame house, said Chris Brackett, a Sevier County sheriff's investigator. The children's names weren't released.

"Why the kids? It's terrible and sad," Brackett said. "I can't think of anything worse."

The children's father, Arturo Morales, 37, is a construction worker in New York. His wife and children had moved to Arkansas because it was safer, said the Rev. Salvador Marquez-Munoz of St. Barbara Catholic Church, where the children were enrolled in catechism classes.

"They were active in the church. She never missed a Sunday," Marquez-Munoz said. "They were just like any other children — bright and lively. I can't believe she could have done this."

So what? That means nothing.

This is rubbish. Even fucking whacko's go to church, genius. I really don't understand how her relationship with the church had anything at all to do with this. Just looks like more anti-religion psycho-babble to me. This board is full of it. There are a lot more important things going on that need worrying about....pick a better, less "beat a dead horse" style of argument.

nah. pick a different style of argument to complain about ya fuckin wench.

Think of it this way:

Should we blame Dimebag's death on metal because Nathan Gale "never missed a metal show?"

See my point here?

Dumb argument.

no. she killed her own kids. it seems like many of these cases conclude with the fact that the perpetraotor was hyper-religious, hyper-Jesus. and was "saving" their kids form the cruelties of the world.

at any rate, i feel the way i feel about it so bitch to someone who cares about how YOU feel.

Ok....point taken. However, most of the deaths that are "religion oriented" aren't related to Catholicism which these people obviously are. Usually, they are into some odd Ultra-Baptist denomination and in very poor areas of the country. I highly doubt that religion was the motive here. They simply took a quote from the parish priest. I wouldn't go crazy over this one.

my main point here is that, yes, I am assuming that the this mother killer her own kids in a way that is directly connected to her worship. not like that hasn't been seen before.

& I'm certainly not going crazy over it...just put it up on a board but it is upsetting, bottom-line, because 3 kids are dead for, I'm sure, no good reason.

Ok, so I hope you don't mind if I post about my belief in God because that's how I feel. I'll make sure to post about why God destroyed Babylon. I'll also be sure to keep everyone updated on all of the Satanic killings that go on down in Brownsville, TX. Or how athiests are usually lazy, non-thinkers, and lack creativity because they only believe in the tangible things in life. I'll be sure to post....because it's what "I think."

I really don't think like I quipped about in that last post, just said it for the sake of argument.

and YES, I believe that dead kids is always tragic. We live in a world full of nuts....usually the nuts are very sick people to begin with. Just don't jump to any conclusions.....Take it all in slowly brother....slowly.
