Never was a fan of Deicide but a friend of mine was cleaning out his tape collection and he found the tape Legion and he started freakin saying how much Deicide sucked back then yet Legion was incredible music wise. Not owning a tape player I went online to iTunes Music Store and bought the album. I'm not into satan or any of these idiotic lyrics but I will say the guitar riffs/song structures are technical as hell. Are the other Deicide albums like this or are they kinda boring and bland? I might buy some more

Oh yeah my friend also found Morbid Angel's blessed are the sic and I remember I was in 6 grade when I got that CD from my mom, she had no idea just that i wanted it! brings back memories!

Their first album "Deicide" was pretty awesome, music wise. "Once Upon the Cross" had it's moments. After that, they become kind of bland.

Don't bother, the first 2 CDs are the best.

They actually went less technical on purpose after that CD, which was a mistake.

yeah i hated deicide because i'm just not into this satan i must die take my life suicide! hahahaaha

but when Legion came out all these death heads kept telling me, "if you can get past the vocals just listen to it for the music, its incredible" i went out and bought the tape and i was impressed with the musicianship. but not impressed with the vocals or lyrics. its the only deicide album i will listen to. its pretty damn old but its still a classic per se.

didn't the guitarists say Glen Benton never played any bass lines for the album? All he did was do the vocals. One of the guitarists played bass for that album. Live I heard Glen didn't even play bass for those songs. What a wuss!

"blessed..." is the only morbid angel album i really like. the whole thing is awesome, even the instrumental tracks are really good, especially that little acoustic bit towards the end of the album.
as far as deicide - to me, they just plain suck.

i like alot of Deicide but yes the 1st two are best.

The whole MA catalog is solid, but the first two records and Gateways are my favorites.

All Deicide rule except for In Torment in Hell. That one sucked!!

Legion is their only good album. It showed they were actually a creative band. yeah the theme of Deicide is childish and silly to me but Legion was incredible musically. And yes Glen Benton can't play bass to save his life. He once played Smells like Teen Spirit in between songs at a show. I was like you are a joke! I've seen them recently so they no longer play anything from Legion. So I never had the chance to see those songs performed live.

yeah Blessed is a classic, so is Legion.

Definitely don't bother with anything after Legion. They TOTALLY lost it after that one.

toggletoggle post by ndeath at Jan 9,2006 9:47am
I disagree.Once upon the cross and Serpents of the light are great albums.I dont understand why some people dont like Deicide.

I saw them 3 times on the Legion tour. They played the whole album and almost the whole first album. Fucking ruled.

shit, so i take it they could play that stuff live?? Glen can play the bass parts????

A lot of people are turned off by the concept of the band. Satan, blah blah, its silly.

i think scars of the crucifix had some great moments to it. other than the overdone preteen satan image they portray, i like deicide. but legion definately is the best deicide stuff

Legion is the ONLY good Deicide album.

toggletoggle post by Back in The Day at Jan 9,2006 12:44pm
looks like everyone agrees! the first S/T album was decent and it shocked many but the production was horrible! still a bit technical. but Legion was some compex shit to play that is for sure!

toggletoggle post by CNV at Jan 9,2006 12:44pm
The first 3 albums and Scars of the Crucifix was good too

I told Glen Benton I was in the animal militia when I was in tampa and he said I have a gun and I will blow your head off hah

And that might be the last time you will get to see them.Deicide are not gonna play ne shows around here ever again

YEAH Mr. Benton is a huge gun enthusiast and owns many handguns and "sporting rifles" aka legal assault rifles. So i read in an interview.

why won't they play NE shows???

i heard he isnt allowed in mass? he was in ny amonth or so ago,and they used to play here,"back in the day"

OH maybe its because he was caught carrying a concealed handgun. I thought i read he use to carry concealed at every show yet he only has a pistol permit for FL yet when he went on tour he carried a handgun. So did the Hoffman bros. It was someone in the band that was arrested for that. I read about it because the tour got held up because of it... but this was probably back in 2002 i think... anyone know?
