New Bedford police have charged a woman and her son in two attempted robberies.
Karen Walker, 41, and Joshua Phipps, 19, both of New Bedford, were charged with armed assault with intent to rob and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.
Police said Phipps stabbed a clerk in the hand while trying to rob a 7-Eleven store at 45 Coggeshall St. on Friday night. Phipps attempted to rob a Pedro Mart at 171 Coggeshall St. at knifepoint about 10 minutes later, police said.
Phipps allegedly fled the stores without taking anything. But police said in both cases, Phipps jumped into a getaway car driven by his mother.
