Dear Mr. Bush:

Any idea where all our helicopters are? It's Day 5 of Hurricane Katrina and thousands remain stranded in New Orleans and need to be airlifted. Where on earth could you have misplaced all our military choppers? Do you need help finding them? I once lost my car in a Sears parking lot. Man, was that a drag.

Also, any idea where all our national guard soldiers are? We could really use them right now for the type of thing they signed up to do like helping with national disasters. How come they weren't there to begin with?

Last Thursday I was in south Florida and sat outside while the eye of Hurricane Katrina passed over my head. It was only a Category 1 then but it was pretty nasty. Eleven people died and, as of today, there were still homes without power. That night the weatherman said this storm was on its way to New Orleans. That was Thursday! Did anybody tell you? I know you didn't want to interrupt your vacation and I know how you don't like to get bad news. Plus, you had fundraisers to go to and mothers of dead soldiers to ignore and smear. You sure showed her!

I especially like how, the day after the hurricane, instead of flying to Louisiana, you flew to San Diego to party with your business peeps. Don't let people criticize you for this -- after all, the hurricane was over and what the heck could you do, put your finger in the dike?

And don't listen to those who, in the coming days, will reveal how you specifically reduced the Army Corps of Engineers' budget for New Orleans this summer for the third year in a row. You just tell them that even if you hadn't cut the money to fix those levees, there weren't going to be any Army engineers to fix them anyway because you had a much more important construction job for them -- BUILDING DEMOCRACY IN IRAQ!

On Day 3, when you finally left your vacation home, I have to say I was moved by how you had your Air Force One pilot descend from the clouds as you flew over New Orleans so you could catch a quick look of the disaster. Hey, I know you couldn't stop and grab a bullhorn and stand on some rubble and act like a commander in chief. Been there done that.

There will be those who will try to politicize this tragedy and try to use it against you. Just have your people keep pointing that out. Respond to nothing. Even those pesky scientists who predicted this would happen because the water in the Gulf of Mexico is getting hotter and hotter making a storm like this inevitable. Ignore them and all their global warming Chicken Littles. There is nothing unusual about a hurricane that was so wide it would be like having one F-4 tornado that stretched from New York to Cleveland.

No, Mr. Bush, you just stay the course. It's not your fault that 30 percent of New Orleans lives in poverty or that tens of thousands had no transportation to get out of town. C'mon, they're black! I mean, it's not like this happened to Kennebunkport. Can you imagine leaving white people on their roofs for five days? Don't make me laugh! Race has nothing -- NOTHING -- to do with this!

You hang in there, Mr. Bush. Just try to find a few of our Army helicopters and send them there. Pretend the people of New Orleans and the Gulf Coast are near Tikrit.

Yours,

Michael Moore

P.S. That annoying mother, Cindy Sheehan, is no longer at your ranch. She and dozens of other relatives of the Iraqi War dead are now driving across the country, stopping in many cities along the way. Maybe you can catch up with them before they get to DC on September 21st.

I'll bet you he posted this on a blog and never sent a real letter, or on his website. Ridicule and sarcasm isn't going to get anything done. He was probably sitting at his desk eating a cheeseburger and scratching his fat sweaty ass while he wrote this. His 2 movies did nothing to sway voters so I think it's time for this lard ass to shut his mouth or do something rather than writing and doing movies, it's gotten him about as far as Bush has gotten with our "war on terror".

The way people bash Moore is proof that he is a threat. Not to mention anyone who disagrees with him goes out of the way to make fun of his weight and politics (despite the fact he lost over 80 lbs). Everyone slanders the shit out of him at any opportunity. I'm glad somebody is saying something these days. I'd vote him in as president, maybe the people would get some justice.

Michael Moore is a filmaker he isn't a member of the administration or the government, I don't see how his failure to respond, if indeed he hasn't, is even remotely comparable to the governments failure. The whole idea that you have to do something to critique it is one of the stupidest notions on Earth. I've never made a movie, I am free to like or dislike his movies. I am not the president, I can certainly comment on the job he is doing. Do you really expect him to jump in a boat and go perform heroic feats? He is a fat nerdy guy who makes movies.

liberals are worse than neocons because at least neocons have a set agenda. liberals are meandering middle class suburban jackass, by in large, that are more interested in why gas prices are so high than why inner city crime rates are skyrocketing. conservatives care about things that directly effect them and make no qualms about that. liberals care about things that directly effect them but try to play it off like they are worldly and want this like, eutopian impossibility that if actually did happen, they wouldnt be able to stomach.

that's wrong, most liberals are minorites in the lower class. go look at the house of reps and the senate, by large minorities and women are liberal- 2 things conservatives fear, minorities and women.

I don't have any real respect for him. His efforts didn't really do much for the election anyway.

All I was saying with my post is that liberals are just as notorious for Bush bashing as conservatives are for liberal bashing. I'm sick of the whole bandwagon business that you mentioned in your other thread, except I'm getting pissed off at the tendancy for hatred between liberals and conservatives just on the basis of those two labels. I'm fucking sick of it to be honest. People need to shut there mouths. By virtue of the fact that I consider myself liberal, I know upon meeting a conservative that I'm going to completely disagree with them on almost every political stance, so I avoid talking about that shit. God knows I'm not going to change their opinions and they aren't going to change mine. It's pointless.

well, he's doing more than that obviously, he's had a tv show, made two box office hit movies, as well as dvd's and shit. I didn't dig ferenheight 911, but bowling for columbine and his series 'the awful truth' he did make a difference in other issues.

Fox is owned by right winger Rupert Murdoch, and NBC by corporate world polluter General Electric. What would they do if Bush wasn't in the White House, deregulating the industries of his campaign supporters, or giving waivers to media giants who violate market standards?

The second amendment puzzles me. I have no idea what to think on that issue. I agree that we have the right to arm ourselves. But let's face it, when that amendment was written the most powerful weapon a person could own was a musket. But on the other hand, if people attack an amendment, that leaves all amendments, including the first, up for grabs, and that's no good. Then again, Prohibition was an amendment and they undid that one, but it wasn't on the bill of rights. As you see I'm very confused as to what to think. Myself, I hate guns, make me very confortable to be around and all. I don't think you should be complaining about the rigors of the process of obtaining a firearm legally. If I could just walk into the police station and get a license just by slapping down my name and 30 dollars it would scare the hell out of me, cause that would mean any psycho could do the same thing.

How the hell do you come to that conclusion? Bill O'Reilly and Sean Hannity said so? Or was it Jerry Callahan?
Right wing Clear Channel owns 11% of the market. I already mentioned News Corporation (Murdoch) and NBC earlier on this thread. All networks are owned by big corporations such as GE, Disney, etc. Didn't Westinghouse build nuke plants? You really think these groups support or lean left? Liberal media has been brewing for years now...Hannity I O'Reilly are JUST coming to light NOW...did you hear of them 10-15 years ago like this? Ann Clouter would NEVER have gotten recognition like she;s getting back then...the big conglomerates (NCB, CBS, ABC, CNN) are ALL with liberal slant, that's a fact. look at the NY Post, Washington Times and Newsweek...again all with liberal slant. And if yuou don't think these big corporations play both sides of the field, you're WAAAAAAYYYYY off on that assumption. Those big corporations are in it for THEMSELEVS and will side with whoever can give them most benefit...again, look beyond what you see and things will become clearer

We're agreeing to disargee here Rich! I still feel the liberal slant that you see is just simply reflecting the current state of the nation, badly, which when you look at the facts things are pretty shitty right now.

I see the media pandering to both sides with the small issues, feel good stories, etc. that, to me, aren't even really news. Noble soldier stories, or some woman with 9 kids who has defeated foot cancer. Hours upon hours of insipid 2 minute bits that distract from what really goes on.
I see what little objectivity we actually do have smeared as "liberal."
And I see the corporations who own the media putting their commercial interests ahead of our right to information.
What is there to see beyond that?
Please tell me. (i'm not trying to be a dick. this is some good discussion.)

When you look at the reports it's a very "anti-Bush" sentiment that reflects an opinion of the media...unless you see a (useless) poll that favors Bush, there is nothing good being said about him or his policies...hell look at all the useless coverage from that retard who camped out on his TX vacation home (forgot her name)...TONS of press. The military moms who disagreed and went on a caravan tour got very little press. Why? The one mom expressed the liberal side and the media ate it up like candy? Why not equal time for the moms who actually honored their sones & daughters instead of disgracing them by frutiless antics? Her "sit in" was only a ruse anyway to start the "peace movement" and she said that herself!! A Phony, hypocrite...

i don't recall her name either. that might be saying something of the coverage. I DO recall the talk radio jeers calling her a whiner and the constant sound bits of her chanting. I'll be the first to admit that i listen to way too much right wing talk radio though. I do agree with you on her though, she seems to be a bit loopy.
as far as Bush press, i've seen very little criticism, UNTIL recently. He's in a bit of a mess now, and everyone's scrambling to get away from him. As happy as this makes me, i think it's sad that it took a natural disaster costing maybe thousands of lives, and a Louisiana senator claiming she might "punch him" to get this attention. Although most of the bush articles today are about Renquist, or how Bush said the relief effort is "unacceptable." 46% of people polled are fine with Bush's handling of the NO relief.
Whatever. I'm sure within the next week or so, there will be something terror related that will put this all in the back pages of the newspapers.

well...where I sometimes listen to Jat Severen or Laura Ingram, that's on a small Boston station. Compared to BIG affiliates in the media and press, she's made out to be some "mourning martyr". Liberal press eats this up because it serves their own personal agenda. She's a fraud and a disgrace

Saying the media is liberal is the just the same as saying conservatives have been victimized. People need to stop crying and denying the fact Bush has done a bad job. After all the Rovian tactics used to slander Clinton for charges that multiply daily, it's a fraud for anyone who to realize the same things are happening now. It's a fucking shame they've slander the media (though not the greatest in the world) so now we're not supposed to believe anyone or anything that gives us news, cause it's liberal. Good job negating free press and terminating a major part of the American spirit.

I never said conservatives were victimized...just that liberalism is a cancer that needs to be extracted because it does NO good, history shows it. If YOU want to pay all the tax hikes to fund their "programs" go right ahead. Half the things they want funding for is useless anyway
