The clock speeds aren't getting any faster but the operations/sec are still growing. I think Moore's law still applies. Intel finally followed suit with AMD last year and ditched the idea of naming their processors by the clockspeed.
I just got an Athlon 64 3700+, I'm pretty happy with it. Doesn't seem much faster than my old AMD 1.2gHz but it holds up a lot better and doesn't want a reboot every other day.
Should I be? I stopped keeping up on PC shit years ago, I'm pretty much clueless to anything new now. I'll assume that's a 64-bit version of Windows and I'd put money on it that I'm not running it. I just build this thing so I could use it as a DAW when I get enough money to buy an ADA and some monitors.
I was reading an old Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles comic book the other day and there is a part where Donatello is all excited about this experimental "super computer" he finds in the garbage which has 2 floppy disk drives and an astounding 3MB of ram! Ah the 80's.
