Well, we finally made it back from Germany for the show's return after a three week hiatus. Wacken was a great experience, but we will likely not return in the near future due to the ridiculously huge crowds and general pandemonium that surrounded the entire event. Some of the highlights were of course Turisas, Bloodbath, Tuatha de Danaan, and a particularly folky performance of Carmina Burana by Corvus Corax. Some of the downsides were Dissection (who sounded terrible, though didn't play any of the nu stuff during my short stay there), Finntroll (compared to Turisas the night before, this was a snooze-fest) and not being able to get close enough to Ensiferum to even hear their set, but such is the way things work at these mega-events.
