i usually hate assholes who say this, but the book was so incalculably better. theres so many really fucking awesome metaphors that are lost in the film translation, its really depressing.

but its a cool movie

I never quite got the ending either, I read the book as well and it doesnt reveal much its basically paralleled to the movie except the murder scenes go into detail which is fucking awesome, alot of the descriptions of the murders put goregasm lyrics to shame. The only complaint I had about the book was the 15 page rants on whitney huoston and the other bands. Also the descriptions of the clothes gets boring seeing as he hyper analyzes everything in his mind and you get the exact description of what everyones wearing every five minutes in the book. Still a classic without a doubt

i bought the director's cut DVD, i'm a huge fan of the film and it was on sale...so i wanted aaron to see it

The book is a bit better, more detailed, if slightly more heavy handed with the social commentary

when I watched this movie, it just seemed like they had a message, but they failed to deliver it. overall I just didn't like it. maybe I just couldn't connect with the main character or something.

It's about how petty, shallow and fake alot of people were during the 80's. Even after he starts telling people he's a killer nobody believes him because he's rich and good looking. It's actually a pretty brutal social commentary but the book is way better. Just skip all the chapters with a singer or bands name.

Seriously, of all the times the phrase "the book was better" has ever been said, it was never more appropriate than for this stupid fucking movie.
