Dual EMG 81s? Not bad...I prefer the classic 85/81 combo.

The neck is an 85, the camera flash made the holographic gold look silver.

I'm going to swap it for another 81 though.

that's a sharp looking instrument, not my taste though. I think guitars have been looking totally gay ever since Paul Reed Smith got popular, everyone uses the flamed maple look, boooring. Give me a late 60's Firebird anyday...

It's not like everyone hasn't done a firebird spin either though.
Guitar companies don't really have any room to experiment with anymore so you haveto accept the fact that since people like and buy figured maple that it will get popular.
I might have gotten a different finish, but black quilted maple is the only option available.
It boils down to quality too though, I bet the glue holding that firebird's wings on isn't alphetic resin.
