Indeed, The Taste of Silver is back from the attack. We played...17 shows in 23 days I think it was. A few shows got cancelled on the way home; One we didn't know about till we got there.

Tour went really well. Got in at 6AM this morning. We met some great people, played some great shows, and had an all around very positive experience. We're going back out again for a recently-reduced 4 days with Birth Rites and hopefully John Ritter the Robot in August, and then we're around for a few months.

It's worth mentioning that we have the following releases 99.999% finished and just sitting on a shelf for anyone that wants to put them out. Send us an email thetasteofsilver@yahoo.com:

-The Weight of The World 5-song EP - recorded 2004, all art, mastering, mixing done
-Of Songs & Sunrises: Live From Return To The Pit - live fuill-length - 2004 on WUNH
-Raising Kubrick / The Taste of Silver split 10" - recorded 2005 - all art, mastering, mixing done
-1/2 of a split that is 4 of our best recordings, recorded 2004/2005 at Dead Air - still needs to be mastered, no artwork

Also apologies to anyone that showed up at Union Forever Fest today , July 22nd. It's 1.5 hrs away and we open, so we really just couldn't make it on time and be able to drive home or expect to play for anyone. We're tired and we spent all the gas money getting back from Indiana. Come see us at Doomenstein in Worcester tomorrow!!

more of an update soon, most likely on our site,
take care,
N

here are some bands I really liked. It's not all the bands, as it was a few weeks and I'm gonna need to retrace my steps, but these are ones currently on my mind:

Heros Laid To Rest - IN - Doom/Sludge stuff. Really big and thick sounding.

Index - MO - Pop/Ska/Punk like Dead Milkmen meets AAA

We Fly Our Kites At Night - AZ - Majority Rule meets Pg 99 meets old DIY shit

Phantasmagoria - CA - Bizarro improv death grind tech stuff

Navies - DC - Huge sounding post-hardcore with a 40+ inch kick drum

Mustangs & Madras - CO - awesome post-hardcore stuff meets later-era black flag

The Symptoms (?) - CO - I have their sticker upstairs... I think that's the name? Or the Skeptics? Great fucking Le Tigre punk meets B52s and The Cramps. Good shit!

New Day Radio (?) - CA - Rowan would know their name. Really cool hardcore like...if Strife had cleaner guitars and vocals and were like rocking the fuck out

The Faceless - CA - Intense tech metalcore. We didn't play with them but they were on the PA when we were setting up for our LA show

Bear Tax (aka Extraction Point) -- UT -- AWESOME shit. Really thick hardcore ala Big Bear or Coalesce

Ever Since The Accident -- MT -- Cool post-hardcore shit. Really techy with lots of cool guitar riffs. Kinda like Fugazi.

No Secrets Among Sailors - OR - Awesome shit like Jawbreaker. Really cool, I remembered the singer from meeting him last year at our not-a-show.

I'm not sure what songs are on there. These guys are awesome and sound HUGE live, I wish there were more riffs per song, though. They rock!

The Taste of Silver and Raising Kubrick are looking for a label to release a split record that was originally slated for August release on the “on-hiatus” Boston based label NotCommon Records (Kevorkian’s Angels / Disengaged / Conifer).

With NotCommon giving the chop to various recordings, the bands have decided to pick up the pieces and look for a label that will take care of the release and treat it well.

The split features one continous track afrom The Taste of Silver and two independent tracks from Raising Kubrick. It was mastered and mixed with ten-inch vinyl as the expected format, though the bands are now considering putting it on compact disc.

Artwork for the split has been done by Joshua Andrew Belanger, who has worked on projects for A Perfect Murder, Over The Top, No Warning, and Guns Up! Amongst others. The un-texted version can be viewed at www.joshuaandrewbelanger.com or here: http://www.joshuaandrewbelanger.com/paint/thetasteofsilver.jpg

The Taste of Silver is from Arlington, MA and plays a diverse blend of fast, melodic, and chaotic music. Ranging from grindcore to slow folk, the band mixes elements of various genres to make something that is inclusive for everyone. The end of July marks their return from a three week US tour. They currently only have available a split with now defunct Aganihm on upstart DIY label Argentum Decorum Est. They can be reached via thetasteofsilver@yahoo.com.

Hailing from Massachusetts as well, Raising Kubrick delivers a unique fusion of death, grind and hardcore. Matching the musical ferocity with a brutal female vocal attack, RK executes a hybrid that will make you think differently about extreme music. Mp3's are available through http://raisingkubrick.cjb.net, and the band can be contacted at raisingkubrick@yahoo.com. They have a full-length CD available from Not Common Records titled “The Important Thing Is Moral Choice”.

Both bands are working on plans for additional touring in the upcoming months.
