New site? Maybe some day.

hardcore & death metal don't belong in the same sentence...
for tech & brutality, I'll have to say the following:
Spawn of Possession
Suffocation
Necrophagist
Capharnaum (the 2nd CD, the first had potential but it's way underproduced)
Decapitated
(I know there's more, but those are the ones off the top of my head) |
|
Only one band ever truly combined hardcore punk and death metal, and that would be SLAYER. And in thier case, it wasn't crossover, just originality. |
|
The Red Chord.
"it's not gonna be alright!!......It's not gonna be ok!!" |
|
hardcore death metal? as in pure death metal? or hardcore infused death metal? |
|

|

|
isn't hardcore deathmetal deathcore? I thought that was the point of the post. I could be wrong. In either case . . . Despised Icon. |
|
despised icon owns the the "deathcore" genre |
|
This thread confuses me, I never knew there was such a thing as Hardcore Death Metal |
|
never heard the term "deathcore?" |
|
Oh yea,not familiar with any of the bands in that particular genre though I guess |
|
#1: who the fuck said slayer? seriously. dumbasses. as we all know fifty times over, slayer is not DM, and nor do they combine DM and punk rock. they combine metal and punk, which is THRASH, der.
#2: napalm death? uh, no. sorry.
#3: YES, it is extremely possible for hardcore and death metal to exist together in the same genre: dying fetus, despised icon, dripping and COUNTLESS other bands combine these genres. christ, thats the reason why raising kubrick came into existence.
ok, my rant is done. |
|
what a stupid thread with stupid opinions.

I said slayer, dumbass. While you're right that they started off speedmetal/punk influenced, some of us bought later albums like Diabulos and hear the DM influences.
Thanks, have a nice day, learn to disagree without being disagreeable.
|
|
diabolus had DM influence? couldve fooled me. diabolus sounded like it was full of a lot of suck more than anything else. im sorry for the 'some of us' who bought post seasons albums. if they had actually picked up some DM influence, i wouldve probably payed attention to them again. i love disagreeing, dont get the ol' panties in a bunch. |

way to prove your own point. |

Honstly, blue. Of the two of us, wouldn't you be the more likely to wear panties?
|
|
ill admit it, you have a point. |
|
yeah but Blue has fantabulous titties, so he's got a right to wear panties ! |

blue i am stunned....Yes slayer may not be death metal...they started somthing beyond human comprehention twards d.m.......and napalm death is the perfect band to co -exist in this catagory of hardcore death metal...yes they might be grind,,,but they have achieved all styles and out lived many...
NAPALM DEATH is the best band ever...besides slayer
and also exhorder and suffocation..because they are my favs too!
but not right in this thread i think!!?? im drunk whatever! |

dude, dont worry. i am in no way shape or form bashing slayer. im extremely aware that they paved the road to death metal, but that does not make them death metal. and ND, while made a couple albums that had DM influences on them, i still dont consider them death metal. my personal ravings. not trying to shit on people here. |
|
blue i dont think that!! just metal heads spitting opinion bro! |

it had potential, and it definately left you wondering what the next release would sound like...
I think their drummer was 12 or 13 when that CD was recorded too. |

I've always thought that the Lee Dorian recordings sounded alot like the old Agnostic Front stuff(minus the vocal style and the blast beats) and the 90's albums when Danny Herrera started doing sick 7/8 beats with the crazy fills and shit mixed with the blasts and skanks just took it all to another level completely.
So anyways, I definitely heard hardcore influence in them from the get-go. They have also done covers of hardcore songs as well. |
|
i mess up that quote thing

you may be right on all of that, but that doesnt mean they are a death metal band. which was my point. |
|
If you mean 'hardcore' as in who was pure death metal and responsible for starting all this shit, then the choices are obvious.
Death
Obituary
Possessed
Slayer
Napalm Death
Nihilist/Entombed
Carcass
Kreator
Bolt Thrower
Cannibal Corpse
Deicide
Pestilence
The reasoning here is of course that every other band you guys have named is pretty much just derivative of the above list. Sure, they might be more 'technical', since they simply borrow the ideas of the above bands, then play a little faster, a little crazier, etc. Maybe they are dorks who know their scales better. Who the fuck cares. But these bands above are certainly mandatory influences. I'm not saying I don't like Decapitated or Goregasm or Capharnaum or any of that, but none of that stuff is as impressive or shocking today as these bands were back then. |
|
lol dripping has no hardcore. Old school ND was grindcore and grind core is a mix of Thrash, hardcore, death metal. There are plenty of "metalcore" bands out there I dont quite understand "deathcore" though. The best death metal band was Suffocation .However a lot of bands now take what they did and make it sicker. But suffocation made death metal brutal. |
|
i dont know, dripping was a always a band that drew in a lot of influences. |

Hey Dreaming In Exile - thanks for the words. I was the "other" guitarist on the CD (aka NOT his crippled hebrew majesty, but rather the short-haired douche). Jordan, the drummer (now sick wigger royalty) had just turned 12 when he tracked his drum parts. He's never not been amazing. It's kind of scary. Especially that now he doesn't even own a kit and spends his time making "dope beats". If you were into Capharnaum back then, check out Catalyst, my current band and the band of a couple other CT Capharnaum refugees that didn't make the move to FL. myspace.com/unholycatalyst. we're playing with obituary and napalm death at the webster in sept. |
