I had the very first migraine headache of my life today.
OMG I wanted my wife to shoot me, for the sole purpose of my getting up to get the gun wouldve fucking made me puke.
Horrible horrible pain.
I hope that never happens again.

oops...I hit reply as the 'enter' key
anyway...
from 10 am to 10 pm tonight in absolute agony.
Anyone else get these?

Yeah, about 2-5 times a year.

Caffeine helps. Sip coffee. Also, turn off all the lights and lie down in a quiet room. I mean alllll the lights, I even cover my alarm clock and vcr.

Oh man, thats the truth...any light is like getting stabbed in the eyes.
I tried coffee but it made me wanna hurf.

I used to get them almost every day in october and february.
since college it's gone down to 2 times a year (I've learned to tell the signs and take mega advil/drink coffee before it starts).

I basically end up in the shower for 2 hours puking down the drain. they ended up giving me pain killers and super advil.

you are totally correct about the wanting to shoot yourself in the head. it sucks. wait til you get the migraines that are so painful you start to halucinate. The only good thing is right after your migraine lifts... the wiring of your brain is still all fucked up... but the pain is gone. life, at that point is beautiful!

Ya man....after I woke up at 10 pm tonight (basically making myself sleep from the pain) I felt like I was a new person.
Any idea what causes these?
what are the warning signs?

toggletoggle post by ArrowHead nli at Jun 11,2005 1:36am
stress can cause them. You can inherit them from your family. All kinds of things cause them. You can get shots from a doctor that are supposed to make them go away, but I'm not very good with needles.

I got one at the morbid angel show almost a year ago. I ended up puking into an empty soda bottle while driving, and pulling over. My ride home from worcester that's normally about 2 hours turned into an 8 hour epic battle. Every noise made me puke, including the sound of myself puking.

Oh man...that wicked sucks!!
Ya if stress causes them, then thats what mine was from, because I have no history of them, but plenty of stress lately.

I got one once driving home from famly xmas 03. it was a horrible snow storm and I was driving down the death highway (101). I puked into a gloria jeans container as I drove.
little did I know, but I puked up my lip ring too.
I was wicked pissed.
I pulled over on exit 6, dumped the puke out and continued driving carina and I home.

Ever see the movie Pi? They show a good idea of how gay a migraine is.

I hate it when people have a real bad headache, and they say "oh, I have a migraine". haha, no they don't. They would never have been able to spit that many words out without puking. The smell of food, light, any sound, everything just keeps making it worse.

Another weird thing - stick your head in the freezer.

If I can't shower, I often use ice on my head OR push my temples up against the toilet... it might be a shit/piss covered thing of porcelain...
but then you need cold, you do it.

for me food and light sucks... you mentioned an alarm clock... when I have a migraine, some thing like an alarm clock if I even glance at it wil burn an image into my retna. then even with my eyes closed, I can't get it to go away.

I also had imitrix for them (that's the shot the dr can gives you), but they are like $10 each.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Jun 11,2005 2:10am
imitrix worked really well, but my wiring would feel mega fried afterwards

toggletoggle post by davefromthegrave  at Jun 11,2005 2:12am

If you go to the ER they will give you a morphine drip, seriously. They did that for me when I had my last migraine.

toggletoggle post by powerkok   at Jun 11,2005 11:12am

Double amen, my brothers.

Another thing that can tip off a migraine in me is not drinking coffee. I know that if I don't drink coffee one day, I will get a headache, but 1 out of 10 times does it tip off a migraine.

When I worked as an orderly, I got migraines about 1-2 times a week. I worked as an orderly for six years. I no longer fear death.
