I almost want to go to this just so I can call bullshit on his lame story about putting two Brockton cops in the hospital.

july 30th? maybe I'll be there...
but I don't eat pig or cow and I don't pay to get into shows so I don't count.

just hire some people to follow you around with big signs pointing down that say "THE REVEREND!" ...you'll be fiiiine

toggletoggle post by blue  at May 19,2005 4:32pm
will there be headliners? cus no offense to any of the (good) bands, but there isnt much incentive for people to come so far. the pig/cow roast certainly isnt going to persuade me.

toggletoggle post by SacreligionNLI at May 19,2005 4:33pm
i heard seemless and beyond the embrace...nothing confirmed though

toggletoggle post by KeithMutiny  at May 19,2005 4:46pm
i heard slayor, mettalicka, and Iron Maydon were playing...

not really headliners or reasons to go, if those arew the headliners !

toggletoggle post by blue  at May 19,2005 4:52pm
yeah i agree, if there are 30+ local bands playing, i sure as hell hope there are at least 10 headliners. beyond the embrace and seemless are pretty midcard status (not to mention not good).

toggletoggle post by SacreligionNLI at May 19,2005 4:52pm
well then give jay however much money it takes to get 10 headliners

don't get pissy, just saying...if he expects a good turn out, you need real headliners. i'm not saying Slayer or Iron Maiden but you need someone who you can count to draw people.

last time i checked BTE and Seemless can't even sell out the Living Room or upstairs at the Palladium.

toggletoggle post by blue  at May 19,2005 5:04pm
yeah, were not trying to yell at anyone. but this equation seems real simple...

headliners = draw
10 local metal bands + 30 local nu metal bands = people who only came to see their friends' bands

its a fact, you have to spend money to make it.

toggletoggle post by SacreligionNLI at May 19,2005 5:10pm
i wasn't getting pissy or anything...it's just a real pain in the ass to get a bunch of headliners on a fest that's just starting. i think you're kinda jumping the gun though saying 40 local bands can't get a decent draw together...i have a little more faith in local music in that...even if most of the music itself does suck

maybe he has something up his sleeves nobody knows about

toggletoggle post by blue  at May 19,2005 5:13pm
all my info is based upon booking my own fests, and going to A LOT of local shows, not to mention i often converse with one of the main bookers in boston (i hear he posts on here). i know jay and im not bashing him at all. but if you want to really attract people that havent heard you, headliners are the key. headliners really arent that hard to get if youve got your shit straight.

he probably could have gotten them real easily if he wanted early on, but he's investing more into activities and better sound and more food and MORE BEER!

toggletoggle post by jrb2971   at Jun 15,2005 1:22pm
Shroud of Bereavement will be there also. I'll be there selling some obscure stuff nobody has every heard of. Black Harvest has signed to Oak Knoll and I bet Shroud's Of Ages cd will be released by then thru me I asked Jay to get 3 inches of blood to headline..

toggletoggle post by SacreligionNLI at Jun 15,2005 1:27pm
are there even going to be headliners?

i agree that there should be at least a couple nationals on this. but hey, if the number of peeps that i heard went last year than, hey i'll be happy.

i guess 300 people showed up last year.

honestly though, i have seen shroud like 500 times. i need a national.

i do hear that black harvest is a good band.

and ditk are pretty cool. metal hoe-down!!!! WOO HOO!!!!

toggletoggle post by SacreligionNLI at Jun 15,2005 8:09pm
i think the door had more like 400 people last year and everyone thought it was awesome so you gotta figure that they'd get more to come again. not to mention that with the bands alone you're talking another 200+ people

toggletoggle post by CarrotsandSticks  at Jun 15,2005 9:35pm
I think I'm out of town then, but I have freinds playing in it (Marching Through Silence) and it's in fucking Bellingham, so I'm going to try and make it anyways.

toggletoggle post by jrb2971   at Jun 20,2005 9:06pm
I think DiTK is playing the sayonara fest not the stoner and steeler

toggletoggle post by Inner Self Lost at Jul 9,2005 12:57pm
Look at it this way... if your in one of the bands you drink for free and it's a big party so enjoy

toggletoggle post by SacreligionNLI at Jul 16,2005 11:26am
large party....everyone should go just to have a good time anyhow...fuck being pretentious

toggletoggle post by ShadowSD at Jul 16,2005 3:21pm
Exactly. Last year there were no headliners, and the official figures according to Jay were 330 paid, and another 180 people were there including bands/crew/staff.

My band members were very skeptical before we played the show, thinking it would be lame, but they both 180'd by the end and said that it was a great time, exactly the kind of show we should play more often. The whole place was an outdoor metal party, great vibes, lots of fun. Most of the time, there was a good band on at least one of the stages, and the food was GREAT.

Even if you only like some of the bands playing, it's worth checking out. If I took myself out of my own band for a moment and put myself in the position of a fan going to see this, I would personally count Suicide Dream, Black Harvest, Shroud of Bereavement, Sacreligion, and Norseth as bands I'd really enjoy seeing.

There are other bands I'd get something out of, too, don't get me wrong (2nd Class has a good drummer, Blackout Frenzy's lead guitarist shreds, Screams of Erida had good solos and a cool bass player when I saw them at this last year, Hypersolid/Skulltoboggan/Antibody/ISL/RRH are all good guys who have been cool to us) -- but even putting all that aside, just five bands I'd really enjoy plus all-you-can-eat pig and cow is a great deal for $15 in my opinion.
