There is nothing better to do this night. |
well, I guess I'll have to go then |
sweet. i shall attend this if i can. |
More bumps than Toxie' head. |
who booked this show? Some one from Abaroth said we could play this. Is this possible? |
Sorry, this show is already booked. But I told Abaroth that I'd set up an all black metal show with them and you guys in the summer. |
so the max cap @ Dee Dee's is 75 people? |
i'm gonna try to make this Sin of Angels and Unholy Trinity rock my socks ! |

Oh yeah, and bling bling gold necklaces! |
phantos said: so the max cap @ Dee Dee's is 75 people? |
100 people |
I doubt that it will ever sell out.
all other doom metal bands are a joke once you hear shape of despair |
Since this place isn't in Boston, I wonder if there's any chance they might have an easier time opening it up to 18+ers for shows. Then 100 people wouldn't be out of the question at all. |

I dont think so, this place is a bar, 21+ all the way. |
Yeah, I'm going to talk to them about it, but it wouldn't benefit the bar at all, since the younger kiddies can't drink anyway. |
I should be there, I wanna see Unholy Trinity. Blue keeps telling me they sound like Absu with powerviolence vokills. |
its true. i do. not exactly like absu, but you can hear it. |
if i can get a ride i will so be there Sin of Angels and Unholy Trinity ! |
roll call... who's going? |

blue said: its true. i do. not exactly like absu, but you can hear it. |
I remain skeptical till I see them haha... I had to leave the one show of theirs I went to before they played - do they have a page?
I am thinking about rockin out both the Library and this, will see if I can find some non-wimps to join me. |
lady_czerach said: Yeah, I'm going to talk to them about it, but it wouldn't benefit the bar at all, since the younger kiddies can't drink anyway. |
Indeed, but when you're talking about a show that can draw 40-60 people, why not let in another 20-30 kids as well? How is Deedee's with the door split? If they take any, it would be extra cash in their pocket, and surely they have a bigger profit margin on sodas and such than beer. |
Ray - as long as you're there before the show starts, that's fine. I won't have you guys load in until Abaroth loads out anyway.
Alex - you can find some of Unholy Trinity's stuff here: http://www.heavyrotationmetal.com/unholy/music.html
Dee Dee's doesn't take a cut of the door, but you're right about the sodas. I'll definitely throw these ideas out to them. |
It's an interesting idea, but of course they might counter argue that if it sells out cause of the under 21ers, some drinkers might not get in. And of course it might just be totally impossible under Quincy law... But worth looking into anyway. |
damn right it is, we need more all ages places to play and i couldn't find a ride so i wont be showing my face in that town for some time now Ha !
however Unholy Trinity and Sin of Angels rock the fuck out ! |
I doubt DeeDees will go for 18+, that place has been there forever as just a shitty towny bar and since it's normally booked by one fo the guys from Tommy and the Terrors, I am sure if they could do 18+ he would have been already. However, stranger things have happened, like DeeDees doing shows in general. |
Rob, went to the punk @ Dee Dee's last sat, and he said the place was packed. He also mentioned that the bands were horrible.
If they were to do a 18+ night they would have to have a bouncer in there to watch the kiddies and make sure they are not drinking. Basically cover the bars ass, so if a undrcover is in there, they dont get shut down. Thats how it works in RI anyways.
EVERYBODY COME TO THIS SHOW!!!!! HELP KEEP THIS VENUE BOOKING METAL SHOWS!!!!!! |
I wouldn't be surprised if cops visit deedees on a regular basis, it happens at obriens all the time. |
lady czerach, unfortunately Sin of Angels will have to pull out of tonights show due to a family emergency with the bass player. A thousand apologies, we regret having to cancel with such short notice. Please contact me via email (skinnyray1@cox.net). Sorry Again. I will try to come up myself to support the show.
Ray |
I'm going to be there.
I wonder who you can throw on at a moments notice. |
WHOREMASTERY IMPROV SET!
j/k Rob |
someone get khanate to do it. |
Khanate would be fucking great, but I bet she would have a better chance of getting Immortal to reunite and play tonight. |
That's OK, Ray. We'll do it some other time.
*puts thinking cap on* |
eh, if it's just 3 bands.. well... then it should get over ealier and I can either get to bed early or go see righteous jam's set.
I forget, why do shows here typically get over? |
If you meant when, then 12:30 |
If you need a band to fill in I could see if Revengeance will do it. |
heh, oh yeah and did anyone tell perpetual winter that this show isn't at Obriens? |
Why would they think it was at obriens? |
Yeah, it says O'Brien's on their website >:(
But they know it's at Dee Dee's. |
OK, there's a possibility of a "special" headliner but I won't know for another few hours or maybe not until the show has already started. So I'm keeping it at three bands for now.
Be there or SUCK... |
I
ll give you a SUCK jess ;)
(sorry I was asked like 3 months ago by WB records to shoot a \"not so metal\" show =( |
we can play we can play!!!! if you will still have us sorry for the confussion please let me know if you will still have us |

Just come down and play, I will take care of everything else. |
we'll see everybody tonight
so this will be over at 12:30? i have band practice at 1am and i dont want to be late. how far is quincy from allston? |
i am going to try to make this. |
Is someone going to take pictures of this for Rttp tonight? |
there is only one person that take pictures for rttp |
Yeah, Jerry. Unfortunately Jerry has stomach cancer and this site might come down if he doesn't get better soon. |
joe, you have 6 days before that joke is funny |
when do bands start going on tonight |
Goddamn it. I want to go to this. DAMN YOU, WISDOM TEETH!! |
So getting there at 8:00 would be retarded?
If you're setting up a merch table, I'd get there early so there aren't a lot of people in your way. BTW, Dee Dee's has new tables. They're tall and round, so you might want to bring your own. |
I was planning on going to this. Unfortunately, I am as sick a rabid dog. |
So would 8:30 be a good time to show up?
after getting lost everywhere after this show on my way to a show in brockton, I'm finally back home.
working on pictures now. |
Thanks to the bands who played and everyone who came out!
I was talking to the door girl about how my shows are doing and she told me that us metal kids don't drink enough. So I tried to make up for that myself last night. Bad idea. |

I was just a little tired last night.. |
one of the best parts of the night was mark kevorkian running around screaming "I'm allergic to the light" |
I just woke up. last night was great one of the strangest sets we did next time we'll bring the Acustics thanks to all the bands , thanks jess for having us , and thank u Rev for some more cool Pics |

unholy trinity: I don't know if it was just the venue, but they sounded a lot more dark, raw, and black metal than the last few times I saw them. At the BCCA, I would have sworn they were trying to be more like deicide, but this was savage. lots of funny poses too.
abaroth: I tried to comply with their wishes not to use flash... but when they started the fog machine and strobes, I thought "they flash me, I flash them". they played a emperor track.. at first I thought it was the white wizard, but it was dom sathanus (I need to stop listening to the live emperor cd). they were very good, raw BM, early emperor influenced like nefarious.
perpetual winter: unlike the "dark and brooding" abaroth, this band was a high-energy ATG's band (minus the melodic parts). I definitely think they could fit in at just about any show. they ended with a cover of slayer black magic. a track that I don't really hear people covering very often. sent it out the people killed and the killer in the minnisota school shooting. they also semt a song out to 100 demons which is awesome cause 100d are one of my favorite bands.
sin of angels: I didnt even know they were still playing... when I saw them there, I just figured that they were there as customers of the show, not as a band. I was like "wow, they showed up anyhow, even though they aren't playing, cool." but then I found out that they actually were playing, which was cool too. they were insanely loud for that space and tripped the fuses twice, on each sides of the stage. the end of the set was a chaotic mess with cabs, heads, and drums pushed, dropped, and jumped into. |
Ha some people didn't know the words to Black Magic classic !
and besides the Trinity and Sin of Angels i thought Perpetual Winter was pretty decent. |
Rev, you better edit that, it's SIN OF ANGELS, they get bothered by "SINS".

This is the singer of Perpetual Winter. Just wanted to say thank you to Jess, Dee Dee's, Reverand, all the bands, all the kids that showed up, and our freinds that drove down from NH to see us.
All the bands were great that played last night and we hope we can make it down there again. We are looking to play more shows, contact us @

Amazing that i got to dee dees before the show started for once. The powers of a canceled band practice.
Anyway i had a great time hanging with everybody, drinking and stuff.
The drummer in P.W. had some quick dbl bass going on. Sin of angels were freaking loud- but they allways are!!!!
Dee Dee's said that "metal kids dont drink enough". So get all your drunk 21+ friends and go to the next dee dees show. |
I think I am giving up on this local Metal scene, I wont be at as many shows.
I love when the Rev comes out and takes pics and shit. he can call us big drunk fat bald kids, Wait thats just me No one needs to get upset over a a mistake over a name when some one says "sins" I just try to politley tell them there is no plural just "sin" no harm no foul |
does no one remember Charlie Brown anymore ?
look i'm doing the sad face now Ha ! |

I find that hard to believe. I guess Jeff (SuperFly) wasnt there.
Wait until the show on 5/21. There will be drinking.

did they give you a hard time about the merch or something?
what happened? |
No support, no one buys stuff. All the effort I put into getting new stuff and getting to as many shows as possible and then I sell 3 CDs! That covered a full tank of gas. I will just stay home and work on getting my website up and sell shit on eBay, this local scene is fucked, there is no support for shows or local labels, I will concentrate on the worldwide Metal scene instead. New England shows just don't seem to be working out. There needs to be some synchronicity between bands (like Jim BOE is trying to point out) and promoters.
John dood some of us don't have jobs and are lucky to get into shows. not everyone is loaded with cash to buy shit. and if you think something is wrong with this "scene" start helping to change it work with people instead of quitting it. but hey what do i know i can't even spell salesman right, right ! |
unholy trinity is one of my favorite local bands now.
John, I love your distro man. You've always had some great shit. The fact of the matter is I don't make that much money at all. On top of that when you take into account how many other labels around here I routinely support, there's only so much I can do. I wish I could buy shit from you more often but I can't. Your not the only who's not turning a profit. I agree, metal is fucking lame sometimes. |
Jon send me your distro list. Dungeoncult@aol.com
Stuff I want
Craft "Total Soul Rape"
Nachtmystium "Eulogy"
Windir double CD
Sargeist ... anything |
i was at the show and checked out the distro section. There seemed to be a lot of bands impossible to find at record stores and thats cool...but with underground metal, the shittiest band in the world can make a cd. Buying a random cd from a distro box could be a disasterous waste of money. Maybe at shows from now on, organize the cds based on the bands playing. "If you liked perpetual winter, check out ---" and have a display of cds that closely resemble their style. Do that for all the bands, then have a "misc" box or something. Make buying underground music less of a shot in the dark. |
I understand it can be frustrating John, but don't give up so easily. Don't you enjoy going to the shows and seeing/hearing the bands? I feel bad when local bands don't get paid. All the traveling they do..all for free. Look at the driving the rev does...i do my part too.
Good idea in getting your distro online, i think you'll sell that way too. |
It's never been about sales or money for me, I did The Metal Cage radio show for over 6 years for free. I have been doing my distro since 1993, I know that I am not getting rich selling DM and BM CDs. It just sucks that shit sucks so much.

dood i've been without a job since Dec, i can't even find a job at the Mall. now that sucks ! |
As far as underground black metal labels and distros are concerned , there is a fair amount that have generated success. I attribute their success to stocking their inventory with music that does not suck. Full Moon Productions, Moribund Records, and Blackmetal.com are some examples... If I were to start a distro or label I would make sure that everything on it was truly evil. |
Signing the right band is always a plus... |
I have pressed 14,000 CDs on my label and I have only released high quality stuff. I try to only sell shit in my distro that I like, obviously some more than others, I would never sell stuff that I didn't like though.

OH, THANK YOU JOHN. I never thought of us as "high quality" stuff. |
I thought the show went well except for John waving one of my rare vinyls around to push away the fog. I think I did well for selling merch and was able to hand out a great deal of free promos, demos and hoped it promoted the scene. I guess part of me was just trying to get rid of some cds & records from my own personal collection even if it meant making these great metal heads awesome deals. I can understand John's frustration but that's why I bring some free stickers, demos, etc. Atleast I can have fun getting the music out there. Too bad they didn't have pizza there that evening. I hope to carry some New England black metal band demos on my site soon. |
