Norwegian black metallers MAYHEM have parted ways with singer Maniac (real name Sven Erik Kristiansen) and replaced him with Attila Csihar (TORMENTOR, ABORYM). Csihar had previously worked with the group on their 1993 release, "De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas".

"Although many rumors flourished over the past months, nothing was decided until now," reads a statement from the group's record label, Season of Mist. "The reason for this change in line-up lies in more private matters, but has also to do with Maniac's inability to tour."

The band commented in a statement: "Maniac was, and will always be a part of our legacy, and it has been an honour to work with him for the last 10 years. Respect!"

maniac is a fucking queer and i am glad he is gone. they haven't released anything worth a shit since attila was in the band.

This is pretty good news. I might have some new hope for Mayhem but probably not.

Attila was fucking sick. I lost all faith in Maniac when they played upstairs last time. I was so psyched to see them and fucking Maniac is up there with these fucking sunglasses on. I dunno. Wolf's Lair Abyss is nasty but DMDS is obviosly the pinnacle of that band.

yeah but in terms of actual real releases I'd pick DMDS. this isn't really worth arguing guy. Attila > Maniac

it doesn't upset me either way, i love mayhem with maniac or attila, i felt maniac's vocals were very original and enjoyed the insaneness of them, attila's vocals should be much better this time around so i'll be looking forward to it either way

Attila sounds like popeye, I wish I could have seen mayhem before maniac left. Oh well.

I liked Attila. I liked maniac too in wolfs lair.

This better rekindle their love affair with Sweet Father Below! They've definitely taken a turn away from the blatant devil worship of yesteryear, and that saddens me. I second the notion of bringing back Snorre, but Blasphemer did a pretty killer job on Chimera. Now if they could only make Hellhammer's drums sound a little more natural and less "engineered".
