Never played part 1 but Gothic part 3 was great (once the mod people finally got a stable patch released. It was patched up to ver 1.7 last I played) If you are thinking about getting Gothic 4 for the Xbox, I would advise against it. While it is not a complete failure, it is definitely very dumbed down compared to part 3, and there are many other better RPG's available IMO.
