I would like to think that most people don't take this show seriously. I watch it because it's entertaining. They show fascinating archaeological discoveries that I've haven't already learned about, and they have wacky people talking about aliens, which is often laugh-inducing. Yeah, sure... there is always the possibility that aliens have visited our planet in the past, but there is no way to know that for certain unless we make contact with aliens in the present. The likelihood of that is pretty slim.

What is more likely to be the truth is that ancient humans were probably more technologically advanced than we know based on current historical evidence. Maybe the whole "great flood" thing happened and set civilization back. Who knows? I don't think those "ancient astronaut theorists" are giving the human species enough credit. Even in ancient times, we were capable of some pretty cool things. The pyramids weren't built with magic alien technology. They were built with pure, human determination... and a whole lot of slaves who were repeatedly whipped by a fanatically religious culture that thought their king was god.
