Many years ago Dane was involved with a girl who up and left him one day, and ran off with a religious cult. She was never heard or seen from ever again. A number of years later, before preparing to write their newest album, which would become DNB, Dane started having recurring nightmares that his lost girlfriend was screaming out for him, drowning within a lake. It prompted him to immediately write the lyrics for the album, and the title track in particular sums up his pain. At the end of the album, the man longing for his lost love (which is Dane) has spiraled into insanity and then commits suicide. Really uplifting, wouldn't you say?
