I just thought it was the coolest shit ever. When I was around 9, i bought No DOubt's Tragic Kingdom and realized that MAYBE i should play drums seriously for the rest of my life. I took lessons for like a month and the rest is history. I'm self taught for the most part. EXTREMELY unmetal, i know, but hey...its how it happened.
