Ok, here are some of my 2 cents, or at least a half of a cent.
Keep in mind I didn't really read this thread but LOLed at what I saw.

You think metal has a bunch of sub-genres? Look at electronic music. In fact, I think the history of electronic music may even be more fascinating than the history of metal. Why? Because it's gone in so many different directions and has been all over the musical spectrum - and then back again.
What REALLY irks me is people that listen only to Trance, and then claim to be huge fans of electronic music.
Electronic music usually relates to the technology at the time, and can also be extremely trendy. We all remember when Trance was hugely popular and a bunch of tools thought they were so cool for listening to "techno."

Electronic music, like metal, is a vast universe of sounds and musicians, but people only really listen to the tip of the iceberg with it.. unless they're real fans.
To mock or underestimate Aphex Twin's achievements and accomplishments within modern electronic music is intolerable. I'll leave this thread shaking my head in disappointment, Martins.
