wait, people actually use MPLS? I'm guessing it's a pure ip network? I've always been curious how a router would be set up to handle non-ip traffic over MPLS. Yes, I've theoretically done it by pushing and popping labels, but besides the macs, there is no way to know what an mpls label is unless you set up multiple labels. People should just use S/C vlanstacking since it's basically based on 802.1Q, but I guess you can run out of numbers easily.

I'm been working on all these packet types on a new product for over a year.

I've also had that issue with keeping the ip, but it's on a mac so I figured they were smarter. But how could he still get out to the net that way? That was my issue. I couldn't get to the net cause the gateway was wrong.
