Personally I think if a guitar player took the time to practice his instrument and get good enough to play a solo, why shouldn't he allow himself a moment in the spotlight and show people what he can do? I don't care if you take the time to craft your solo note by note or just rip through scales as fast as you can, I'm impressed by them. Whether or not I like their music is a different story altogether but I couldn't solo my way out of a paper bag, so anyone who can play them is pretty talented in my opinion and if they want to throw one in a song they helped write, all the power to 'em.
