Dour Cursiva is calling it quits. Due to recent member changes, which were left unannounced until now, along with a general refocus of musical direction, the rest of us remaining decided that it would be best to retire the Dour Cursiva name. We leave this project with no ill will toward anyone, and nothing but the best experiences behind. We have no plans of playing a final show as Dour Cursiva.

Thank you to David Cavalieri, Kevin Pires, Joe Valerio, Eric Zabinski, and Josh Aguiar for their effort and involvement in Dour. Thank you to Ethan and Hold True Recordings for all of his hard work and dedication in supporting the release of "Voices Through Wires." We are very proud of that album and encourage you to pick it up through Ethan at http://www.holdtrue.com. Thanks to Ian van Opijnen for his help in making that album sound the way it does.

We could thank a million and one people and bands for supporting us, encouraging us, hooking us up with shows, creating artwork or taking pictures for us, or just being solid friends throughout the whole deal. It would be long-winded and self-indulgent. So, thank you to everyone who supported us or shared in this experience with us.

Expect a new website with a sort of retrospective of our various stages of a band to be posted when get down to that.

Dour Cursiva was:
Jake Neves - V
Ryan Murphy-D
David Cavalieri-G
Brian Williams-G

Brian, Jake, and Murph are starting a new project with newly added bassist Matt Desmarais. We will be called Mast. We are already deep in the process of writing a debut full-length album and thoroughly enjoying the process. The songs available for streaming on myspace today are from the Dour Cursiva pre-production sessions from the spring. They can serve as an indication of the songwriting, but certainly not the production vibe we're going for. If you have a lead on a more organic/analog sounding studio, we are on the lookout for one.

We are ready for shows, looking for shows, and will be looking for shows in the extended future. Please contact us through myspace or at mastUSA@gmail.com if you're interested in booking us.

Mast is:
Jake Neves-V
Ryan Murphy-D
Matt Desmarais-B
Brian Williams-G

David Cavalieri's personal farewell:

"After dedicating the better part of the past nine years of my life to playing guitar with my best friends (who many of you have come to know as Dour Cursiva over the past few years) I have decided to take a long and much needed break from music, ending my time with the band. I want to say thank you to all of the past and current members of Dour who have made these past few years the best years of my life. These are people who I respect more than anything for their passion and love for this band. These some of the best, most dedicated, and passionate musicians I have ever known. Unfortunately, over the past year it has become increasingly obvious that I have lost the drive and commitment required to be in a band with these guys. With increasing responsibility at work and at home I simply don't have the time and energy to commit to the band anymore, and I feel as though I would be doing them an injustice by sticking around. This fact, coupled with my growing disinterest in heavy music and the music industry in general led me to my decision. I want you guys to know that my departure is in no way a negative thing for myself or the rest of the band. I am very excited to see what the future holds both as musicians and in our personal lives. We are still good friends, and I wish Brian, Murph, Jake, and Matt the best of luck with the new project and I'm sure ill be seeing everyone at all of the Mast shows coming up this fall and winter. Lastly I just wanted to thank all of the wonderful people I have met through this band. No need to name drop. You all know how much you mean to me."
