well, he's amazing in a different way. I am not impressed with his double bass, or his speed, and thats what your average non-drummer is impressed by. Its his touch, his ability to play a three part poly-metric measure with varying accnets. His power in addition to his control is phenominal, but again its not for the reasons that impress most people. He is, in my opinion so fantastic because of his feel.

i just find tool to be pretensious and overrated, and far to artsy.

i find minimal skill in danny's playing, and think his material is really just flashy, well disguised, minimalism.
he's not a bad drummer.
he is just given far too much credit.
