A lot of bands seem to abuse that technique and end up just making noise instead of creating an actual technical arrangement. Beneath The Massacre do it crazy fast so it sounds like a video game, but if you listen close enough you can make out what's going on, though it's mind-boggling. Seeing some of it played live makes it seem not so difficult though.
