I'm not really knocking them on their playing ability, its obvious they're talented players, but to me, its sub-par because it sounds like they're just playing technical shit just for the sake of being technical and trying to be guitar heroes. Plus the polished and over-produced sound kills whatever "brutality" they're going for. In the late 80's-early 90's death metal bands had some fucking sick guitar sounds back then (Entombed's classic rusty chainsaw sound, Cannibal Corpse's on Tomb...) Today it sounds like they all turn all the knobs up to 11 and then polish it to a high gloss in some hot shot studio....it just destroys the whole atmosphere of the album, instead of imagining this music belching forth from some dirty sewer, you just imagine some dorky looking guys with headphones in a real nice studio carefully picking away...
Whatever, I'll take Repulsion over this stuff any day.

I guess its matter of perception. I dont have quite the musical background as you apparently, seeing has how i was a toddler in the 80's. I'm just sick of people bashing bands without any constructive critiscism. I'll check out this Repulsion you speak of and see how it compares. I'm all about discovering new bands (well new to me anyways.)

I was a toddler in the 80s myself actually, I was born in '84. I'm not one of those douches who only likes 80s metal just to impress the older dudes either, I guess I just have more appreciation for the bands who helped create and develop the styles rather than just play a watered down version of whats already been done time and time again. And yeah I hate when people shit on bands for no reason, if I offer my opinion that I don't like a certain band, I'll state my reasons why, and its not just because "uhhh they suck, they have shirts at Hot Topic..."

As for Repulsion, they definitely don't sound anything like JFAC; its very raw, simple, fast grinding death metal; they're actually credited more with starting grindcore than death metal. But definitely check them out anyway, they fucking destroy!
