Usually just single coil, but it's uncommon to have a bridge and middle with no neck. It doesn't get in the way as much as you'd think, and it sounds absolutely killer. beats the hell out of a neck pickup any day. It's worth getting used to. The reason middle Bridge+middle pickup configurations aren't popular is mostly due to asthetics. people aren't willing to check them out because they don't think they 'look as pretty'.
