While I love PILEDRIVER and thought the show in Montreal last December was fucking great, there's a few important things to note here... This is also in response to the statement on the PILEDRIVER website about the show, someone can track it down if they like. I can't comment on the events themselves (police showing up, etc.), cause I arrived to the show later.

- This is a band that barely had their albums distributed outside of Canada when they were released 20 years ago and didn't play a single show at the time.
- Including the 12/2005 Montreal show, I believe this mini-tour makes for 4 total PILEDRIVER shows now completed? Correct me if I'm wrong... Also this new live lineup only contains 1 original member.
- I don't have a clue of the exact number, but I'd guess that Robin has booked over 100 shows, or close to it at least. He had to dig into his own pocket to make sure HIRAX got paid properly last night, but the show was a success, and Katon and co. were just one of many really appreciative bands he's booked.
- If you can't get more than 30 people to come to the Elks Lodge, how are you going to get booked at the Middle East? MUNICIPAL WASTE played the Elks to 350 or so people - another show booked by Robin - because, well... people care about them! I prefer PILEDRIVER, but the fact is, not very many people at all have even heard the name.
- Robin's a fuckin' birdbrain, but it's all good.

What it comes down to, all musical opinions and egos set aside, is that Robin knows how to book a show, puts his ass on the line financially, and has had repeated success in the process. PILEDRIVER either vastly overestimates their drawing power, has little clue about the live music business, or some combination of the two.

DESTRUCTOR, on the other hand, showed that they understood real underground metal and seemed to enjoy playing for the 40 or 50 people that stuck around. They didn't bitch about the payout either, cause they probably understand that a 20 year old recently resurrected underground band is out of their minds to expect $600 and hotel rooms.
