We shouldn't even bother with this kid if he thinks one a-type power metal band owns all other musical acts in history then he won't be on this site much longer.

I like Dragonforce, but I must say their cds are boring as fuck, after one song it all sounds the same, all the writing is very similar, there were times when I caught myself singing the wrong chorus at the show, but the thing was it fit perfectly with what they were playing. Dragonforce is indeed talented, but I must say there are tons of power metal bands out there that own them.

Ie Gamma Ray, Iced Earth, Angra, Pagan's Mind, Blind Guardian, Norther, Dark Moor, Lost Horizon, Luca Turilli, Helloween, Sonata Arctica, Stratovarius, and much more

each of those bands is over all better than dragonforce. I love Dragonforce but I must admit that they are a type a band, they just take what others have done and play it faster, the appeal I think with dragonforce is

a) They are from an English speaking Country, thus youngsters when looking them up will figure that they sing in English, whereas if the band were from Finnland, norway, Iceland, Russia...ect, they would figure they speak in a funny foreign language, and no one wants to be caught listening to music from non english lands.

b) They are showboaters, they hop around and dance on stage.

c) all their songs asides from the two or three ballads they have, are the same fast tempo, where as other power metal bands put out all kinds of tempos, and often have acoustic songs, or symphonic support.

d) their are no harsh vocals, nor is there a change in the vocal range. Dragonforce stick to one range, sometimes going alittle higher where as other power metal bands used varried ranges going from low to deafing highs.

e) They appeal to video game nerds, their lyrics and some of the samples sound like pieces from games, infact Herman Li said himself he is heavily influenced from Nintendo video game music.

f) They have an Asian, and we all know that anyone not white in a rock band is a novelty and must be adored or it's racist.

g) Somewhere down the line some metal kids wanting to show an appealing crowd friendly metal band to non metal kids chose Dragonforce over bands like Immortal, or Kalmah and other such bands, they chose Dragonforce because it would be appealing to closed-minded music fans and thus most Metal kids for years have been pumping up dragonforce more than any other metal band to non metal kids in a hope of getting them into metal

that is why I think Dragonforce are all the rage, next time on "why good bands have bad fans; Chillen' of Bodom"

I must say, you incorporate a bizarre mix of somewhat valid statements with silly absurdity. Dragonforce aren't the best metal act of all time, nor will they ever be, but they certainly aren't the worst. They obviously possess two very talented guitarists that can put the lick on the solo but get lost when it comes to song structure. Now to get to your plethora of points:

a) That's probably the worst and most pathetic stereotype I have ever seen in relation to fans. I have never seen nor heard kids complain that they don't like a band because they sing in Finnish or whatever, and that they try as hard as they can to avoid bands that don't sing in English. That's just a weak and poor attempt at trying to kick the mainstream metal scene when it's down.

b) Would you rather they stand in one spot and just bang their head every now and then? It makes the shows exciting. Believe me, there's plenty of bands out there who make good music but are godawful live, and it hurts them.

c) That you're partly right on. They do use the same chord and song structure for the most part. They do, however, have acoustic songs and use plenty of symphonic support.

d) Harsh vocals isn't really a trademark of power metal, so you lost me there. There's plenty of power metal vocalists out there that explore their range just as much as Theart.

e) Maybe so, I really don't care for the lyrics because I took one look at them and saw that blandness right away in them. How much that influences their fans...who knows.

f) Another baseless stereotype of fans. You're probably the only one who thinks it needs to be embraced. Other than that, you're just desperately vieing for a reason to attack the fans.

g) And so kids tell their friends about Dragonforce. That would up their fanbase, and possibly other bands that they look into as well. I don't think it really would matter either...
