(From the DRC newsletter)

"First, some big news from south of the border, Mexico's Congress
has voted to decriminalize personal use of some drugs, and not
just marijuana. We will of course be publishing an in-depth
report in Drug War Chronicle, but in the meanwhile you can click
on http://ga0.org/ct/g71QAFs1kzQl/ to read the Associated
Press story.

We are pleased that Mexico has taken a major step forward, but
note that only a full-scale end to drug prohibition can end the
violent drug trafficking that grips parts of Mexico and other
nations and break the corrupting power that trafficking
organizations with their vast prohibition-generated resources
have over government and society. Click on
http://ga0.org/ct/gp1QAFs1kzQ0/ to watch Sinaloa, Mexico,
Congressman Gregorio Urias Germann discuss this (Spanish with
English translation) at DRCNet's 2003 Latin American
Legalization Summit, "Out from the Shadows: Ending Drug
Prohibition in the 21st Century"

Second, an item of considerable irony: Mere days after
ridiculing medical marijuana on his show, radio personality Rush
Limbaugh has again been arrested, for pill possession. (The
transcript has been taken offline, but we'll post quotes and a
link if available by next week.)

Our position is that no one should be arrested for mere drug
possession, not Rush Limbaugh but also not poor people in our
cities and certainly not patients. Further, we note that the
drug war waged against prescription pain medicines has had the
effect of making doctors largely unwilling to prescribe them in
the quantities or all the circumstances needed -- literally
millions of Americans go under-treated for chronic pain every
year. Hence, we oppose the arrest of Rush Limbaugh on drug
charges, just as we oppose the war on drugs as a whole. But we
do find his position extremely hypocritical."

BWHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!...oh, awesome....hahahaha, haaaa, fuck that rules...
