I'd TOTALLY agree with you if this was in an Iranian newspaper. But he said this to an American journalist, whose writings will NOT make it back to Iran's leadship (most Americans aren't even aware of this column, why would Iran's regime be?)

Bottom line, though, if these two men were really afraid, they would have said NOTHING. I can understand if the column was a piece of Iranian journalism, then the men might be under pressure by the goverment to say something, but no one in the Iranian goverment is going to come to a synagogue and force people to talk to an American reporter. Because if they did, the American reporter would see the person was under pressure and put that in his column as well.
