COUNTERPOINT: hey, you're the ones who called it DEATHfest. not death & grind fest, or gorefest, or anything else of the sort. you wouldnt put on a fest called blazing winds of unholy creationsfest and then book posi-youth hardcore, would you? and way to assume what i like in music. yeah i love death metal. but guess what? i also listen to black metal, grind, thrash, doom, jazz, classical, bluegrass, hiphop, 60s rock, swing, big band, oi, and folk, to name a few.

Yeah, we called it a deathfest. Big fucking deal. Quite honestly, the name of any event is completely irrelevant. We could've called the "sugar daisies and flowers omitting from my precious ass 2003", and you still would've come to see the bands you wanted. I'm not sure why you are whining about this anyway. Maybe you just crave something to bitch about, I don't know.
That's great that you listen to other styles of music. So in a sense, you're just contradicting yourself by bitching about it being called a death fest, but you listen to other genres of music and list a lot of good grind bands. Makes sense...not really.

COUNTERPOINT: before great white blew up rhode island, i was putting on metal shows at a diy club i ran with my friend mike. and guess what? we had the money saved up and were plannign a fest, and had these bands confirmed: putrid pile, saprogenic, anal bleeding, pig destroyer, dysentery, retch, bound and gagged, terminally your aborted ghost, and a few others...but then we needed the money to get a new place to live because the fire marshall shut down everything and kicked everyone out.

How unfortunate for you. Better luck next time.

COUNTERPOINT: well im sorry ot hear that it wasnt financially sucessful for you, even though after the 2003 fest your website said, and i quote "was a ROUSING success! can't wait to do it next year!" when you write things like that, then you're really not leaving much left to assume.

I'd never use the word "rousing" on the web site, so don't quote me on that, either. It was mentioned that it was a success just because we were going to do it again in 2004. Breaking even isn't exactly successful, but it was enough for us to do it again. Come to think of it, why the fuck do you care? This to me just seems like a failed rebuttal to try and make yourself sound reasonable.

COUNTERPOINT: this isnt a "im so underground, look at all the bands i know and you dont" fight. if you know about all these sick grind bands, do something with that knowledge and book them. dont look and say "hey, Fuck The Facts is awesome...lets book Dead Infection instead, and 12 bands that sound just like them". and if you want me to leave you some sick grind band names, like i said, Fuck The Facts. At no point did I intend to sound "more underground" than anyone. It was just perplexing to me to see that you mentioned bands that played MDF after bitching about not seeing any "good" bands. Way to cover everything up by mentioning more bands that have played MDF, will play MDF, or would play MDF if it weren't for customs reasons (Pigsty, Ingrowing for instance). Hey, you seem brilliant, maybe you can get some of these bands over here for your fest if you save up enough money, etc.

COUNTERPOINT: well rumors stay rumors until you open your mouths and either confirm or deny them. i dont remember anyone saying anything about it when the buzz was flying about it.

I don't have to open my mouth at all for a rumour to start. Little suzey don the street could've started it, who the hell knows. At any rate, this shouldn't matter and I don't know why you care that much.

COUNTERPOINT: well thats great for you if you don't consider headliners anymore, but the fact is most people WILL go out of the way to go see these big bands that stand out. i know thats the reason me and my friends drove 700 miles to your fest, because Devourment, Aborted, and Suffocation were there, and prominently displayed for all to see. how many people came out to 2004 compared to 2003? from what i hear, not even half.

Having headliners to solely attract people to a fest is dumb. A fest is what it should be, many bands to check out. If we just wanted to rely on just headliners at a show, we'll just call it the "Maryland show" for now on.

In 2004, 75 less paid than 2003. Hear it from the source. This isn't exactly detrimental, and a far cry from less than half as you stated. I really had to laugh when I read this.
