New site? Maybe some day.
Does anybody here know how to change the DPI of an image? |
Image->Image Size
it's the 5th drop down. |
note DPI increases always look pretty shitty and DPI decreases 99.9% of the time look fine and work out, though you do get a lower resolution image.
best way is to go up to IMAGE and select IMAGE SIZE
there you will see a thing that says "Document Size" and then "Resolution"
the bigger the number, the more DPI, the smaller, the fewer DPI.
there are some tricks to making low -> hi res changes look good, but it depends on what you are shooting for for a final product. |
Oh shit I see it now. Haha. I had to change it to 300 DPI, all I saw was how to change the length and the width to different inches and shit. But all I had to do was go to resolution and change it there. |
I had to increase it from 74 to 300 and it still looks the same but now its fucking HUGE! |
Haha I don't think you need an expert to change the resolution |
Well the guy who I'm sending it to said I couldnt change the DPI on a computer that I would have to rescan it and change the scan settings, so I figured I'd ask here before having to do that. |
yeah you do have to rescan it.
it's not only huge, it will look like shit from 74->300 printed out.
it will look like an old atari screen shot. |
the best explanation I can give is this:
to decrease, you take away some of the dots, which is methodical and mathematical and is fairly easy for a computer to do, since everything it needs to work out how it should "look" is right there already.
to increase, the computer does the same thing BUT this is additive and therefor a computer will have trouble, as it can't know what you want it to do and simply adds to what is already there by the mathematical equivalent of what you put.
this means for every 1 dot there is now 4 dots, and you get a big square where once there was one point.
this is why you get a "blocky" looking result. |
or, just goto file/new and in the box you can change the dpi. |
