mmmmmmm. just got home from the action. what an awesome lineup. i hope this showed the sheltah that local metal can actually work.

valhalla - old school black metal, had a bunch of cool melodic riffs. started the night off well.

ocean - what is up with maine, first conifer then these guys. super slow and neurosis esque doom. really good.

5 minutes hate - these guys keep on getting better and better. they played a new song with rocked it hard. i cant wait for the new cd.

life at zero - easily the best set ive seen from them in recent times. the vocals sounded extra awesome, the shelter's pa really shined here.

hand choke neck - super moshy dm with melodic parts here and there. combined with super low vocals and you get a damn good mix. awesome stuff.

shroud of bereavement - 2nd guitarless once again, they still slayed. dan, you need 2 guitar cabs if youre gonna go it solo, though. but still thick sounding as hell.

porphyria - did you know that cannibal corpse and disgorge were having sex? cus they had a baby named porphyria. awesome awesome set from them, i couldve used a song or two more from them though. the best part were the strobe lights, you couldnt even see them picking they were so br00tal!

mmmmm. tons of bands = tons of fun.

ok, carina and I ran from a beautiful wedding for a college friend to the show. so we were dress... TO KILL! I was a little hesitant on going to the bombshelter for some reason, but I'm glad I did. what and excellent (and sweaty) time I had.

valhalla: this band's first show. they were an oldschool homage to BM from it's roots with more of a doom back drop. I will admit, they were the big reason I wanted to go to the show, to see abbath and mdb's first show. I noticed a few times that MDB would be pulling some riffs and the other guitarist dropped out. it was only a few times and I'm not sure if it was technical dificulties or part of the song.

ocean: I turned to blue Rubrick and thought that joenc and mike hirudinea would love this band. I guess they are friends with conifer. go figure! it was pretty good doom-ish music that fell some wheres between soilent green and khanate. This is definitely the flavor of aggressive music that calms one down. I would love to listen to it at night.

5 minutes hate: doing another great set after their 34324 hr drive. complete dedication to playing shows and having a gret time with the other bands. at one point, a friend of theirs came on stage and sang one of their songs with them. completely crazy music and the newer stuff just get's harder and harder.

life at zero: holy crap... all I can saw is that one of the moshers with a shaved head, bounced his head off the baricade, fell down and got back up to continue. I would have died from that. they had a bunch of people moshing around for them.

hand choke neck: awesome set. I liked how they played x songs and then the sound guy cuts them off... turns off the house PA and starts playing music. the band doesn't hear this and just starts playing another song. the sound guy turned the house back one and hcn gets an extra song. true story!

shroud of bereavement: damn, one of their songs takes 3!!! guitar players to play. that is crazy. it was getting late by this point so they only got 3 songs. if you know SoB, that still like 30 minutes.

porphyria: I didn't know that suicial tendances was playing.. hahah... sick as usual boys. serge loved it and this headlining act still had 30+ people there at 1 in the morning. the special fxs were crazy. strobes and colored lights like crazy.

After getting home at 6:30 this morning...I'm finally awake. We had a cool afterparty which eventually turned out pretty good. Finally turned that measly fire into a huge fire....

Ok...the Hoser review:

That place was a sweat factory again last night. The walls were sweating and the floor was soaked and pretty effin' slippery.


Valhalla: 1st time I ever saw them, and apparently their 1st show. Guys played a great set, considering that they brought Def Leppards drummer and he still played well with 1 arm. These guys had a nasty assed song with this creepy spoken word intro that I thought was tough. Definitely one of the few bands in New England that I get to see who are Black Metal. And a great bunch of guys to boot.

Ocean: These guys fucking rocked ass. I'm a huge Neurosis fan and if you are a Neurosis fan...get out to see these dudes. HEAVY, DOOMY as all fuck and pretty fucking distinct. Not too many bands in NE do that type of thing, and these dudes do it very well.

5 Minutes Hate: Also Downright NASTY. I never thought that any band from Verfrigginmont would bust ass like they did. I thought that the only thing that Vermont had to offer this world was Ben and Jerry's and Phish...the latter of which sucks my asshole. Killer fucking band.

Life At Zero: What the fuck can I say. Always nasty, always technical as all balls. That's why we're doing a split with them. Oh, and the fact that they are our brothers is also why we dig them. If you haven't seen these guys...travel, they're worth the drive.

Hand Choke Neck: I had no idea that the sound dude shut us off. It would have helped if the monitors didn't suck cow balls, then we would have heard the little weasle yelling at us to stop. Shroud of Bereavement: Always kick ass. Definitely one of the NE bands to watch out for. These guys are re-defining doom and gloom in NE. And Dan looks cute in pink underwear.

Porphyria: Disgusting. These guys make me wonder why I even try. THE best DM band in NE, hands down.

GREAT SHOW....GREAT THANKS TO BLUE, The REV + SUCCUBUS, RUSTED, DYINGMUSE, POWERKOK, ABBATH, MY DYING BRIDE, THORNVINE, JOSIAH THE BLACK and the other members of RTTP who all came out and / or played. It was a veritable reunion and we all had a blast. Thanks to the dirty Bombshelter too....and they have really good pizza by the way.

Valhalla: Got there for their last song, black metal stuff, the drummer had only one arm, not literally but basically. For their first show they did awesome. Sucked the drummer couldn't go all out.

Ocean: Doom isn't normally my thing, but these guys had some awesome sound when they'd let a chord ring out. Reminded me of some of the slower nile stuff live. Would like to check them out again.

Life At Zero: Played the last 3 or 4 shows with these guys, awesome shit always! Guitars could always be louder for them though.

Hand Choke Neck: played a super tight set, chris vocals were a bit overpowering. Jake is fun to watch when he goes apeshit, I always think he's going to snap his guitar in half.

Shroud of Bereavement: Came out and gave everyone a little break from the madness, played a tight set.. vocals were a bit off at the beginning, but that was because she probably couldn't hear herself in the monitor. I heard her ask for more after the first song and it was right on for the rest of the set. I think they only got to play 2 songs but that was about 40 minutes or so long. I wonder what dan sounded like doing vocals for HCN?

life at zero- i must say i missed most of you guys' set due to serge eating my ear out about future shows. i have always been a fan and alwasys loved your music, and you are all cool as hell! so i did hear the set however and it all sounded sick! \m/

Had fun drinking beer with Valhalla in the parking lot. Sorry we missed the after party, we had a 2 hour drive in the van of doom. Thanks again.

thanks to dan from shroud, HCN for the pre and post show, the guys from ocean who we downed a few with in the p-lot and again all the bands and people who showed.

the wedding was nice..drank a bit too much white wine too fast...it was yummy..dress problem causing me to get mad and wear my jacket all day and night even though it was bloody hot!

dress fit perfectly and then my zipper got stuck and could not get over my chest...aaron had to help and he managed to zip it..so it was ok...

for about 2 minutes and then as we were walking outside...BANGzipper ripped at the chest part...boy was i pissed!

so we got in the car and i took off my dress and aaron tried to fix it but ended up using a pin

as for the show..we got there in pleny of time to catch everyone!

That was the best show we played all week, 4 out of 4, and 3 out 4 with HCN. HCN, you guys fucking kick ass, it was great hanging with you this week, all your sets fucking ruled, especially last night with you bassist. (Sorry dude, I don't know your name.)
