he does the same growl over and over, and it's not even that brutal. I think he's gotten too old, or he's just out of practice. I dunno... Mike was awesome live, he fits the newer shit much better than worm will ever.

No shit, considering Worm said he only wants to do material off none so vile.

wait didn't i say this weeks ago and everyone called me a fool?

and all he's EVERY done was that stupid same growl over and over again. it's not like his style changed for the worse.

toggletoggle post by RustedAngel at Aug 4,2004 10:12pm
on 'none so vile' it sounds good... but live it sounds stupid.

toggletoggle post by attendmyrequiem at Aug 4,2004 10:19pm edited Aug 4,2004 10:20pm
it sounds stupid on that cd too. barking dong vocals...fuck that.

none so vile is only good because the band outdoes his vocals.

toggletoggle post by retzam at Aug 4,2004 10:29pm
He doesn't do the same growl over and over. He has the low and the high and the rediculously shriekish one. Besides, what the fuck do you want, he's not a singer. People act like dm vox are an art form, when anyone who throws around throat noises for a few hours can come up with one. What do you want? A Minor scale of all growls...

please tell me where the vocals get "interesting".

tuckers vocals are awesome on heretic and live. what are you talking about?

Besides, I said worm's vocals sound stupid live... I didn't mention shit about a recording.

"on 'none so vile' it sounds good... but live it sounds stupid. "

i posted that because you said Lord Worm "does the same growl over and over", when in Enshrined By Grace, and most MA songs that Tucker sings on, he uses the same tone over and over again. don't get me wrong, i think Tucker is a great singer (though i preferred his vox on gateways as opposed to heretic) but you're bitching about one guy's vox's being boring live when the singer of one of your favorite bands does the same thing

cryptopsy is one of my favorite bands as well, but Mike fits their music more than Worm... Having Dynamic music mixed with non-dynamic vocals just doesn't work well with them.

toggletoggle post by Kalopsia   at Aug 4,2004 11:17pm
i don't wanna get into an argument with you, so i will just leave it that i disagree with you because i think that one major reason None So Vile is their best record is because of Lord Worm's vocals on that album. his inhaled shrieks and high screams more than make up for his "lack of dynamic range" IMHO. and to me, there could only be one singer for Cryptopsy, and that is Lord Worm. as far as the live video, it's his 2nd show back after a 7 year absence from the death metal scene. give him time.

Ok, I see we're making final statements. Well, first of all, since all "dynamic range" is is ability in climbing and lowering and maintaining certain volumes, I don't think I've ever heard a death metal singer with any dynamic range. Second of all, I don't like DiSalvo in Cryptopsy at all and everything I've heard off the two albums he screams on would be just as good with Worm doing vocals on it in my opinion. And third of all, i'm not sure what video this is, because my fucking quicktime is busted, but if it is the one of them doing Crown Of Horns, the sound quality sucks anyway, you can't even hear anything most of the time. Please don't use this video (if it is the one i'm thinking of, which it may not be) as a basis for Cryptopsy's current live sound.

no it's a brand new video with Lord Worm in it. the song is Graves of the Fathers

toggletoggle post by RustedAngel at Aug 5,2004 12:04am
I like worm on none so vile, I like mike on WS, and ATYB. get over it... jesus fuckin christ. I don't think worm will sound good on any of the new stuff.

I don't think anyone mentioned dynamic range besides that kid who used it and meant to use the just the word dynamic. The word dynamic mentioned and the definition of dynamic since you don't know it is, "Characterized by continuous change, activity, or progress." Wow, seems as though you're the ignorant one and Tom was right. He's also right about DiSalvo. THE END.
secondly the reason that death metal vocals don't have a dynamics range is because of this little processing unit called the COMPRESSOR. what a compressor does is squashes down the really loud parts so it comes closer to the parts in lower volume. that way you can hear the quiet stuff even when the guitars are just as loud as they were when he was giving out a loud growl. If you don't think it's used often I recorded Mike of Fall of Decrepitude's vocals yesterday and compressed the fuck out of them.

toggletoggle post by BornSoVile   at Aug 5,2004 12:10am
that was pretty solid. the only thing i didn't like about his vocals is that echo. but if you listen closely to none so vile you can here an echo on his vox throughout the whole album. give it time give it time. i hope they're also doing stuff from blasphemy made flesh. the new material they all write together will be interesting, nonetheless.

heh, pw3nd.

i like worms more primitive style, plain and simple. disalvo is nasty but it was such a change, it seemed like it was almost a crossover for the most part.

toggletoggle post by RustedAngel at Aug 5,2004 12:19am
disalvo was all over the place though (just like the music), i thought it was great.

Wow, requiem, I bet you feel special having just looked that one up on dictionary.com. *applause* really I congratulate you. Now, why don't you check the definition that refers to music. In music terms, dynamics refer strictly to how loud the sound is. Ever hear of pianissimo, piano, mezzo piano, mezzo forte, forte, fortissimo??? Go buy any beginners book for any instrument and you'll be covered on that. Stop flaunting your ever so special brain until you filter all the shit out of it.

toggletoggle post by attendmyrequiem at Aug 5,2004 12:34am
hmm considering i've taken theory classes i know most of those.
pianissimo is playing quietly. forte is loud. mezzo is something to do with vocals. i think it's between a suprano and alto? and the rest i can figure out from what i know.

and considering i engineer music dyanmics can mean alot of things. dynamics can be being crazy. i didn't have to look it up on dictionary.com. i saved you from doing that! and dynamic range is exactly what you said.

and tom would say: pw3nd again.

Rrright, I think everyone's lost interest.

toggletoggle post by Kalopsia   at Aug 5,2004 7:26am
